Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara are returning in their iconic roles, but we will also get to see some new faces including Monica Bellucci and Jenna Ortega.
As the two actors join the Beetlejuice adventure, they have their own set of challenges to bear. From understanding Burton’s thoughts behind the story to emulating the role to fit the plot, they have a long way to go.
Monica Bellucci might steal the spotlight in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with one scene
Much like Wednesday Addams’ dance scene in the Netflix show Wednesday, it seems like actor Monica Bellucci will emulate a similar scene for her character Dolores in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. In the whimsical world where the living and the dead collide, a plethora of interesting characters take shape.
Bellucci’s Dolores is no different. Diving into what sets her role apart, how Dolores plays a key role in the story, and her quest for vengeance, the actress told Collider,
Dolores wakes up by coincidence in the afterlife full of rage and desperation and obsessed with vengeance she puts herself together in this scene that is almost like a horror dancing scene. I had to learn an entire choreography. It took two to three days to film it and this role is very much about body language so I felt a bit like a mime like a broken doll but it was so much fun. In some way, she’s a metaphor for life because we all have emotional scars and she has the real scars but she’s strong and she’s coming back and she’s very dangerous.
The sequel titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice showcases the Deetz family returning to their home which further triggers the awakening of the ghost. Dolores is said to be Beetlejuice’s bride, hence the vengeance is anticipated to be against him. What exactly unfolds between the ghost couple, only time will tell.
Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton are a couple
The director and actor couple made their relationship official last year. Bellucci has previously shared how she fell for Tim Burton due to his unique take on stories and how certain darker aspects are handled in his work. Naturally, getting to be a part of his fantastical universe was nothing short of a delightful experience for the actress.
In an interview with Elle France, the actress got candid about her love for Burton and said,
What I can say…I’m glad I met the man, first of all. It’s one of those encounters that rarely happens in life … I know the man, I love him, and now I’m going to meet the director, and another adventure begins.
The couple has met briefly at award functions and events in the past. They kindled a romance back in 2023 and seem to be going strong to date. Neither Burton nor Bellucci have delved into further detail about their relationship.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to release on September 6, 2024.
