“I miss you so much”: Drake Sets the Record Straight For Texting Millie Bobbie Brown Amid Allegations From Kendrick Lamar
The feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has been going on for a while. It hit a new level in March 2024 with the release of Like That (a song by Future, Kendrick Lamar, and Metro Boomin). The two rap legends’ first team-up was back in 2011 on Drake’s album Take Care. While it seems like the tension really grew in 2024, this beef has been simmering for quite long.
Drizzy was quick to respond to K-Dot’s disses, but his clap backs aren’t confined to the rap world. For years, the Canadian rapper’s friendship with actress Millie Bobby Brown has been under scrutiny due to their big age difference. However, he addressed the critics (too) head-on in his 2023 song, Another Late Night.
Drake Addressed Texting Millie Bobby Brown in a Diss Track
Drake jumps into Kendrick Lamar’s ongoing five-part The Heart series (which the 17-time Grammy awardee started back in 2010) with his own song, disrupting Lamar’s original plan. In this song, Champagne Papi mostly denied the Money Tress star’s previous diss tracks (where he accused Drake of chasing underage girls).
“I never been with no one underage, but now I understand why this the angle that you really mess with,” he raps. “I’m your baby momma’s screensaver / Only f*ckin’ with Whitneys, not Millie Bobby Browns / I’d never look twice at no teenager / I’m a f*ckin’ hitmaker dog, not a peacemaker.”
His 2023 album, For All the Dogs, features a song entitled Another Late Night, where Drake also talks about the rumors about his friendship with Millie Bobby Brown. In one line, he raps, “Weirdos in my comments talkin’ ‘bout some Millie Bobby, look,” which sounds like he’s brushing off the criticism from people.
“Bring them jokes up to the gang, we get to really flockin’….Or send a finger to your mama in some FedEx boxes/Open up that s—, it’s jaw droppin’, really shockin,'” he continues. This was the first time OVO spoke out about the age gap between them.
The 37-year-old and the 20-year-old’s friendship became known in 2017 when Brown (who was 14 at the time) shared that they met backstage at one of Aub’s concerts in Australia.
In an interview with W Magazine, she talked about how they stayed in touch and how Drake gave her “advice” about dealing with fame and relationships. However, their friendship faced criticism due to their 17-year age difference.
Millie Bobby Brown Defends Friendship with Drake Despite Age Criticism
In a chat with Access Hollywood at the 2018 Emmy Awards, Millie Bobby Brown defended her friendship with the God’s Plan singer on social media (according to screenshots posted by Cosmopolitan), saying:
“Why u gotta make a lovely friendship ur headline? U guys are weird… For real. I’m lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance. I’m very blessed to have amazing people in my life. U don’t get to choose that for me. It’s nice to have people understand what I do. Now get back to talking about real problems in this world other than my friendships… jeez.”
Brown’s viewpoint comes from her own experience, which is totally valid. She stated that people should focus on the good parts of their bond instead of just the age gap.
