“I said Mandalorian 3”: Ming-Na Wen Had No Clue She was Filming ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Until a Crew Member Dropped the Bomb on Her
Recent times have been a bounty for fans of the Star Wars universe as the galaxy of movies and shows related to the franchise have been booming. The Book of Boba Fett gave us an insight into the eponymous bounty hunter and his ally, Fennec Shand, played by Ming-Na Wen.
The new age visual effects combined with George Lucas’ imaginative storytelling is the recipe for success in the Star Wars world of projects. The recent success of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka projects show how fans are still loving the characters and their respective journeys in life.
Ming-Na Wen Didn’t Know She Was Filming The Book of Boba Fett
Given the current trend of leaking movies and spoilers that ruin the fun of a good project, production houses have been wary of giving actors and crew members the full script and breakdown of the project. They tend to keep details under wraps until a final direction has been established and a spoiler-free set has been ensured. This is the reason why Mulan voice actress Ming-Na Wen didn’t know that she was filming for The Book of Boba Fett.
After her character, Fennec Shand was killed in The Mandalorian season 1 and later resurrected in season 2, fans and apparently Wen herself thought Shand would make an appearance in season 3 of the hit show. However, the creators had other plans to explore the character’s journey as Boba Fett’s right hand. While shooting for The Book of Boba Fett, Wen assumed that she was a part of The Mandalorian season 3. She recalled on The Katie Sackoff Show,
“I learned on set, I went to Tem [Morrison] and I’m like, “Tem!” Like a five-year-old! “Did you know that this is another series? Like it’s not Mandalorian?” […] So he just went, “Yes, it’s called The Book of Boba Fett.” I’m like, “You knew!” He’s like, “Of course I know!””
While it may seem pretty oblivious of Wen to believe she’s filming for a completely different show, we understand the confusion when we watch the intersection of both The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian season 3. The two shows are interrelated as the last few episodes of the former set up the events of the latter.

Will There Be The Book of Boba Fett Season 2?
Although the show was poised to be a miniseries, fans and the crew are still hopeful of getting a second season. The Empire and the Jedi were the sole focus of the trilogies while the TV shows feature the story of the legendary bounty hunters. However, the show did not receive as much support as it would have liked to be instantly renewed for season 2.
Lucasfilm has not announced another season for the show yet, so fans are still waiting to see if and how they plan to continue the interesting story of the hunter for Jabba The Hutt. The crime and intrigue on Tatooine was intensified in The Book of Boba Fett as each episode delved into a different mission.
