Reboots are quite common nowadays in the cinema industry. The kind of nostalgia these reboots bring is absolutely worth taking in. However, what the New Girl star recently said about the necessity of a certain gap is also a valid point.

The famous sitcom New Girl continued from 2011 to 2018 and won the hearts of many fun-loving audiences. 7 seasons in total, New Girl has won 2 Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Fans were completely in love with the characters and are very delighted with just the thought of seeing them share the screen again. In a nutshell, a reunion is the demand.

Unfortunately, one of the New Girl stars reasoned with a valid point against an immediate reunion that left fans heartbroken.

New Girl Star is Not Very Eager for a Reboot

New Girl reboot is in high demand after its wrap-up in May 2018. According to star Max Greenfield, fans are simply in a rush to watch a reboot. Only a couple of years have passed since the last episode of New Girl and hence it is just too soon to talk about a revival of the show. He told ComicBook.com:

“It hasn’t been that long. I think people are rushing to do these reunions…And I think… what did we wrap that show like six or seven years ago.”

Not just Greenfield, Deschanel also came up with a valid reason to delay the show’s revival. She told The Wall Street Journal:

“It kind of depends on the circumstance…I wouldn’t want to spend the rest of my life doing reboots, but I definitely had a wonderful time and would be very happy to revisit.”

Stars of New Girl are right in their opinions. Just a few years have passed and bringing a revival right away won’t give the expected feeling. Letting a few years pass and then thinking about a reboot will be better, both for the actors as well as the audiences. Case in point: 2004’s Mean Girls starring Rachel McAdams, Lindsay Lohan, and Amanda Seyfried got a reboot earlier this year, and attracted a significant amount of attention.

What Have the Other Cast Members Said Regarding a Reboot?

Apart from Max Greenfield and Zooey Deschanel, a few other stars of New Girl came forward with their opinions too. Lamorne Morris, who played Winston Bishop in the show, said that to bring it back for a new adventure or a spin-off, a convenient premise is required. Morris told Variety:

“It takes brilliant writers and a lot of hard work to accomplish that.”

Also, Jake Johnson (via ComicBook.com) became a little more honest with his opinion against a reunion. According to Johnson, it’s futile to reunite in front of a camera and talk about trivial things. Johnson explained that it’s all about having a fake ID and that’s definitely not what he is interested in.

It is very clear that the stars themselves are not up for a right away reboot of New Girl for their own reasons. They all want to delay the reboot (if it ever happens) and expect all the fans to wait patiently by calming down their common desire regarding the show.

All seasons of New Girl are available for streaming on Hulu.
