After the roaring success of the Barbie movie, Mattel decided to plunge into its other toy categories and monetize its profits. Next in line was a film based on its toy Polly Pocket. When the movie was announced, the Mattel team was extremely excited to have Lena Dunham write and direct whereas Lily Collins stars as the lead.
