Throughout its history, Star Wars has featured a mix of established actors and rising stars, participating in the franchise’s everlasting popularity. The movies have been praised by fans of all ages around the world but it’s not always fans who love and honor the characters, sometimes when they get a bit disappointed with the actor they take their bullets of criticism and troll to an extreme level.

In a Ted-produced podcast, actor Ahmed Best, known for playing Jar Jar Binks in Episode I: The Phantom Menace, shared his coping after facing harsh criticism for the character. He revealed his suicide attempt, highlighting the online hate. In a stirring tale, the actor Ahmed Best revealed a harrowing moment when he found himself on the edge of the Brooklyn Bridge at 3:00 a.m. The weight of fan abuse he had endured played heavily on his mind as he hung above a 40-meter drop:

“I’ll show all of you. I’ll show you what you’re doing to me. And when I’m gone, then you’ll feel exactly what I went through”

The actor also talked about how racism is still harming people and should stop.

“Especially me coming from the South Bronx — this corny, artsy, nerdy, skinny kid, where Star Wars was the first movie I had ever seen in my life. Now, coming back, being in ‘The Mandalorian,’ part of me doesn’t want to let it go.”
