“I’m gonna be real”: Dwayne Johnson Slams Cancel Culture in Hollywood After Publicly Regretting His Decision to Endorse Joe Biden
The latest celebrity to raise their voice against the easy and almost too frivolous cancel culture is the mighty Maui voice actor Dwayne Johnson. Known as “The Rock” in the fighting ring, the wrestler has been an authentic voice in the industry for years as he speaks his mind openly.
Well, for someone who is built like him will seldom fear anyone, let alone be afraid to say what they think, sometimes things get out of hand swiftly and people need to step forward to set the record straight.
Dwayne Johnson Speaks Out Against Cancel Culture
Cancel culture refers to the masses sidelining celebrities for something they said or did. The actors and other famous personalities face the brunt of public opinion and the possibility of going out of business because the audience has declared so. This further promotes inauthenticity and disallows celebrities from speaking their mind, fearing they will lose the support of their fans.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson voiced his stance against the prevalent cancel culture since he values honesty over everything else. Actors already play multiple roles on screen, they don’t need to pretend in interviews and talk shows too. Johnson spoke to Fox News about the same and stated,
“Today’s easy cancel culture world, and cancel culture, woke culture, this culture, that culture, division etc, that really bugs me. In the spirit of that, you either succumb and be what you think other people want you to be, or you go, ‘Well, no, that’s not who I am. I’m gonna be myself, and I’m gonna be real’.”
This came as a response when the interviewer sparked the topic of the upcoming elections and the presidential run for the United States of America. Johnson supported Joe Biden during the 2020 elections and later regretted the decision since it divided the country and he received a lot of heat for getting involved in politics.
The wrestler-turned-actor believed that he had to use his influential platform for a cause and decided to contribute to the political discourse. However, the situation soon turned worse and has led to Johnson making no comments on the elections this year around.

Will Dwayne Johnson be running for President?
Polls conducted in the past reflected Johnson’s popularity among the masses as a preferred presidential candidate. He cares for the country and is fearless in speaking his mind. But he has learned from his past experience in politics and wishes to stay away from the sensitive topic. When asked if he would like to run for President this year during an appearance on Fox News, he said,
“As of now, no, that’s not my intention. I’m not a politician. I’m not into politics. I care deeply about our country. I’m a patriot, and I believe you are too, as well. And right now, my desire and my priorities are my babies and school drop-offs and pick-ups – that’s important to me.”
Johnson has his priorities straight and is not willing to compromise on his family time. His young daughters make a frequent appearance on social media as he spends quality time with them. A Presidential run for Johnson might be lurking somewhere in the future, but for now, he’s choosing to focus on his career in acting and wrestling.
