Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers 4 are two MCU films that have had fans swarming with theories and predictions. The theories around Infinity War started invading the internet long before the film released in theatres. Infinity War has become the biggest event in the comic book films world, spawning thoughts about various scenes of the film.

The movie can be seen as the biggest thriller in the superhero genre, as it assembled more than 60 comic book characters. The movie did extremely well at the box office, cashing in more than $2 billion worldwide.

The film saw the story of The Mad Titan, Thanos who fulfilled his dream of attaining all six Infinity stones and succeeded in wiping out half of the existence with a snap. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo excellently explained the arc of Thanos in the film.

“With Infinity War, the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy is one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.

Thanos believes that by wiping out half the existence, he’s doing a favour to the universe, something that he thinks is necessary for survival. Many fans believe that he is the hero of his own twisted story, with his goal being rebalancing the universe.

To fulfil this purpose, he sets on a journey to find Infinity Stones and assemble them in the Infinity Gauntlet. He succeeds in doing so, snapping his fingers towards the end, wiping out half the population including many superheroes. However, there were a few moments where The Avengers actually came close to bring The Mad Titan down.

It could have ended right at the beginning it Heimdall would’ve used dark magic to teleport Thanos and his army into space. But he got killed by Thanos. Later on, we came to know that Gamora knew about the Soul Stone. If she would’ve killed herself before the events of Infinity War or even the beginning, things could’ve been different for Avengers.

Then, obviously, the infamous moment where Peter Quill aka Star-Lord loses himself out on Thanos on Titan. But it was the God of Thunder, Thor who came the closest to take Thanos out. He had a final shot at Thanos before the snap but instead of going for Thanos’ head, he went for his chest. Here’s a fan theory that suggests why Thor went for his chest instead of his head.

“IW begins with Thor only having one eye because of what happens in Ragnarok. Rocket Raccoon gives him an electrical eye that Thor then uses, meaning he once again had both eyes. We all know, however, that when exposed to high voltage, technology can fail. In the Battle of Wakanda at the end of the movie, electricity is shown flowing through Thor, and his eyes. This may have stopped his electrical eye from working through a power surge, meaning he only had one functioning eye, impairing his depth perception. With poor depth perception, it is entirely possible that he did indeed aim for the head, but because he had trouble with the depth perception, he misjudged the throw.”

This theory might seem interesting at first, but it’s a sort of forced logic if you really think about it. Thor did everything in his hands, and so did other heroes. Avengers: Infinity War is out now on DigitalHD and BluRay.
