No one in Hollywood can doubt Seth Rogan’s unique sense of humor which just keeps on expanding in every subsequent movie. He’s not an actor to mince his words or back out of a challenge. So, when one of the writers in his team for the series Sausage Party: Foodtopia came up with a brilliant joke, he couldn’t say no.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia is a show about food items that can behave as humans. It’s carrying the baton from the earlier Sausage Party movie that managed to inspire so many memes and relatable content. The humor in both the movie and the sequel series is pretty dark as it combines double entendres with food and pleasure.
Seth Rogan’s Sausage Party: Foodtopia features a joke on Timothée Chalamet’s Film
Timothée Chalamet is a rising star in Hollywood with many successful ventures to his name. He a young talent to look out for as he skillfully becomes the character he is playing in a project. One of his most memorable projects is Call Me By Your Name, an emotional coming-of-age story based on a book.
While making Sausage Party: Foodtopia, Seth Rogan and the team had an idea to capture the last scene of Call Me By Your Name and present it with the exact song that played with the credits rolled on the iconic movie. Sharing how that scene came to be, Rogan shared with Collider,
The idea is that you’re holding on Will Forte eating a foot as he weeps and it’s the same shot from the end of Call Me By Your Name and as the credits roll we play the the song from the credits of Call Me By Your Name which I was just explaining was incredibly hard. We had to get Luca Guadagnino and Sufjan Stevens personally to sign off on it which took a lot of letters back and forth and showing them the scene and convincing them that this would not hijack the the way people view the film forever.
To have such a parody scene inspired by one of the most poignant young adult films ever could not have been an easy task. As Rogan explains, he had to convince the makers and songwriters for Call Me By Your Name to let them use that scene and the song that is tied so closely to the movie. The track is titled Visions of Gideon by Sufjan Stevens which plays as the credits roll on Call Me By Your Name.
Is there a Sausage Party: Foodtopia season 2?
It might have seemed like a crazy idea back in 2017 when a movie on talking and walking food items was released. However, nobody knew the success it would garner and the sequels it would spawn. According to Animation Magazine, the writers Ariel Shaffir and Kyle Hunter are reportedly working on a season 2 for Sausage Party: Foodtopia. They said,
We sort of produced them back to back, Lord of the Rings style. We were producing the first season of the show while writing the second one, and it was a bit more challenging than the movie because we were on a TV schedule.
The producers and showrunners seem to have great hope in their project as another season is already in development. Furthermore, they stated how crazy reviews poured in when the movie was released. People deemed the film one of the craziest things they have ever seen which fueled their passion to take the story ahead.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
