Danny Ramirez Talks Surreal MCU Casting Moment After Avengers: Endgame
Danny Ramirez’s journey to the MCU is nothing short of a dream come true. He was cast not long after the massive hit Avengers: Endgame. The Chestnut star admitted he felt a bit overwhelmed by the chance. In an interview with Total Film, Ramirez revealed that in 2019, he was told to keep his role in the MCU a secret.
Even though his character was already known from the comics, he had to stay quiet about it. Finally putting on the Falcon suit was a big moment for him. It means how crucial his role is and marked a big leap in his MCU journey. The 31-year-old continued:
It’s surreal just cause when I got the role it was the one of the first roles cast right after Endgame and so Endgame had just come out, two months later. I had this audition and I’m like.. Me? I just saw that movie was, it was the height of it all.
Ramirez couldn’t believe he was chosen to follow in the footsteps of such legendary actors and characters. “I was like, ‘Oh wow.'” Taking on this role has been amazing, and he’s thrilled to be able to fill those big shoes and make the most of this opportunity.
Danny Ramirez Reveals Journey to Perfect Falcon Suit
Marvel Studios made a big comeback at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend after a two-year break. They wowed the crowd by showing a sneak peek of Captain America: Brave New World. The panel included footage and appearances by stars like Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Danny Ramirez himself.
There, Ramirez shared that his Falcon suit first teased in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, took months to perfect. He described trying on different versions while training, and when he finally put on the finished suit, it felt amazing. The actor went on to say (via Comic Book):
It was months of developing it. And so as we were doing the run-up to film, it was like, all right, Danny, try this on. All right, try this on. And at the same time I was training, and so the suit kept changing and changing and changing. And by the time that it was ready for me to wear on set, I just remember looking at it and being like, oh that’s it. And then when I put it on finally and I was like, oh this is what it feels like and then just like figuring it out. It was amazing.
Ramirez has tried out many different roles before landing the part of Falcon. He’s played friends and love interests in movies like Assassination Nation and Stars at Noon and shown his skills in TV shows like On My Block, Tales of the Walking Dead, and The Gifted.
Captain America: Brave New World is slated for a February 14, 2025 release.
