“It won’t be easy for it to end”: Steven Harrington Actor Is Heartbroken With Netflix’s Decision to End ‘Stranger Things’ With 5th Season
Stranger Things saga started with a mystery of a lost kid in 1980s Indiana. The incident blows papers over the secret cracks and supernatural forces and introduces the small town to a strange little girl, known as Eleven.
As the season progresses, a few kids form a close-knit group with Eleven, who has psychokinetic and telepathic abilities, and look to save Hawkins and the world.
The first four seasons have seen the gang team up to explore different mysteries and lead up to the Upside Down and Vecna. The fifth and final season is likely to revolve around the group’s attempt at defeating Henry Creel and moving on from the dangers of alternate dimension once and for all.
What Steven Harrington Actor Has Said About Netflix’s Decision to End Stranger Things
In February of 2022, the Duffer brothers, the brains behind the show, confirmed Stranger Things 5 will be last, breaking the hearts of millions of dedicated fans of Netflix’s super-hit show through an open letter.
And not just fans, even the actors involved in Stranger Things aren’t best pleased with the conclusion of the magical ride in Indiana involving a parallel world.
Steven Harrington is one of the most interesting characters in the show, as he started as an antagonist, but the once rude teenage student of Hawkins High School ends up becoming a fan favorite with his display of loyalty and bravery.
Still, as they say, good things don’t last forever. Just when we thought Steve, who’s played by Joe Keery, might end up cementing himself as an ultimate hero, the showrunners have decided to put brakes on Strangers Things after five chapters.
“It does feel like it’s time. It won’t be easy for it to end. I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had since are because of that show,” Kerry said when quizzed about the final season.
“So it’s very convoluted. There’s a sense of relief, there’s a sense of sadness. I guess my goal is to just really soak it up as much as I can while we’re doing it, and not take any of it for granted because it’s been an amazing ride with such great people. And then once it’s done, move forward and try to just hold on to the joy that we had when we were making it….Everything has a beginning and the middle and an end. It’ll be nice to have the end of this too.”
The show has a habit of killing likable side characters, as such don’t hold your breath over a happy ending if you are a die-hard Steven Harrington fan.
Who Will Be in the Season 5 of Stranger Things
Steven’s death is just a theory and for now, he’s expected to play a prominent role in the final chapter, and much of the main cast will return to face Vecna.
However, Season 4’s ending more or less confirmed Joseph Quinn and his eccentric character Eddie Munson won’t return as he lost his life to distract Vecna’s swarm of Demobats. A question mark also remains over Sadie Sink‘s return as her character Max is shown in a coma.
The biggest question mark, however, is about the release date of season 5. The Duffer brothers said the wait for the final season will be shorter than the three-year gap between Seasons 3 and 4.
Stranger Things 4 ended in the summer of 2022, but there is no concrete update on the progress of the filming so far, and with the ongoing actors and writers’ strike in Hollywood, it’s unlikely we’ll get to see the Hawkins gang anytime soon.
