Creating television shows is often a gamble since they never know if the show will be picked up by the channel or not. This adds another level of stress for the showrunners to make every aspect of the pilot episode perfect so that the audience loves it from the get-go. It was the same story for the FX show The Bear and its creator Christopher Storer.

The Bear is a comedy-drama series that explores the unexpected turn of events in Carmy’s life. He’s a young chef who has to move back home and reluctantly run his family’s sandwich shop. For a chef who’s used to the bustling kitchens of the big city, this may seem like a step-down. Starring Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Lionel Boyce in central roles, the series has enjoyed the favor of the masses for being intriguingly entertaining.

When the cast and crew were filming the pilot episode of The Bear, they were hesitant about how the show would be received. It was a new concept and a new direction that they were trying to emulate. Little did they know that the show would go on to win various Emmy Awards and impress the masses to this extent.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, actor Lionel Boyce, who plays Marcus on The Bear, revealed how showrunner Christopher Storer actually hugged and thanked him for taking his note into consideration. He shared,

I remember when we were shooting the pilot and at the end of the pilot episode was a scene with me and Jeremy. It’s like the moment where Marcus confirms or gives Carmy that affirmation he’s looking for where he respects him and he says you can throw down and I think it’s delivery of the line you can throw down huh. I remember I said it and Chris just gave the note like give it a little bit more time and then say it and then I did and then he hugged me off camera like you did what I asked you to do, thank you. You could tell he was very happy it’s like this little thing he’s trying to make it’s at Ground Zero right here and it’s just like you don’t the show’s not even picked up yet.

It comes as no surprise that a show as successful as The Bear will go on for a couple of seasons. With season 3’s recent premiere, it was confirmed that Carmy and the gang will return for another season soon. According to Variety, The Bear season 4 will be filmed back to back after season 3 wraps up.

The FX series has been the recipient of more prestigious awards including the Golden Globes. The upcoming season of the show is expected to keep the ball rolling and win big at the next award season.
