Why did Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Separate After a Decade-long Marriage?
In 2004, The Mr. And Mrs. Smith co-stars met on the sets of the spy thriller movie and fell in love while Brad Pitt was in a married relationship with Jennifer Aniston. Eventually the following year news about Pitt and Aniston ‘separating‘ came about. Following this, the Tomb Raider star and Brad Pitt got together and were spotted vacationing together 3 months after the divorce filed by Aniston. The couple was one of the most popular and loved celebrity couples. However, the couple did not marry for the next 4 years because, according to Pitt, he would marry till “everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.”

After their separation back in 2016, The Maleficent actor sold her share of the Chateau Miraval Winery and estate. It was reported that Pitt’s winery partner (Jolie) sold her share without his awareness. Later Brad Pitt’s lawyer sued Jolie for a “breach of contract” and they also claimed, “She did that to intentionally harm the business’ reputation.”
Although at the time, it was not clear to the outsiders what was happening between the two actors. However recently an email allegedly written by Angelina Jolie at the time of the winery issue got leaked. In the email, it is clear that Jolie was deeply hurt and affected by the separation. She also revealed Pitt’s bad behavior concerning alcoholism. The email read,
“I’m Putting this in writing so not to get emotional. It is the place we brought the twins home to, and where we were married over a plaque in my mother’s memory. A place that held the promise of what could be and where I thought I would grow old. Even now impossible to write this without crying.”
