Since the productions have revived from the SAG-AFTRA strike, Johnson is quite confident to roar at the box office once again with Knives Out 3.  In an interview with Wrap to discuss his recent production works, Johnson was asked about the development of Knives Out 3 and said,
“It’s coming along. I obviously couldn’t work during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving in full force, and so it’s coming along. I’ve got the premise, I’ve got the setting, I’ve got what the movie is in my head. It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing”.

Johnson then signed a contract with Netflix for his two Knives Out sequels. The first sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, has already been released on Netflix, garnering positive reviews and high viewership within weeks.
In addition to their commercial success, the Knives Out series earned Johnson Oscar nominations for Best Original and Best Adapted Screenplay.

A still of Daniel Craig from Daniel Craig
Given that The Knives Out franchise is followed by an anthology approach, unlike other film series, it follows adventurous stories from Agatha Christie’s playbook for Hercule Poirot.
Therefore, in the upcoming third installment, we can anticipate with a new ensemble of characters except, Daniel Craig reprising this detective, Benoit Blanc. It is also rumored that Joseph Gordon Levitt will be returning with his Detective Hardroc in the upcoming flick.

The 2019 movie is centered around eccentric private detective Benoit Blanc, who investigates the death of a novelist, Harlan Thrombey, while its sequel is followed when Blanc takes up the case when a murder props up at a tech billionaire mystery party at a Greek island.
While the plot of the Knives Out 3 is kept close to the vest, Rian Johnson emphasized that Knives Out 3 won’t be a mere repetition of its predecessors and would be exploring a unique story, tonally and thematically. Since there is no scheduled date for its release, it is likely to hit theatres by 2025.
