Keanu Reeves Matrix co-star Hugo Weaving has been a part of multiple movies like- The Hobbit, V For Vendetta, and Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger released in 2011. He is also a great voice artist as he has done voice-over for Megatron from the Transformers series. During an interview, the British actor spoke about why he did not want to reprise his role in the MCU’s Captain America Chapter 2.

Actor Hugo Weaving has been associated with Keanu Reeves’ Matrix. During the promotion of his movie Cloud Atlas, actor Hugo Weaving spoke about many projects with respect to his acting career. The Matrix actor has always been very selective about the kind of projects he ends up doing. The representative of the reputed media outlet, Collider went on to ask the actor, whether he has signed a multi-project deal with Marvel. The Lord Of The Rings actor replied-

 “I did that for Captain America. I think the tendency, with those films, would be to probably not bring a villain back. They might for The Avengers, but I didn’t think I’d be in Captain America 2 or 3. I don’t think Red Skull will be there. And it’s not something I would want to do again. I’m glad I did it. I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn’t want to force someone to do it, if they didn’t want to.”

He further went on to say-

“I think I’ve done my dash with that sort of film. It was good to do it and try it out, but to be honest, it’s not the sort of film I seek out and really am excited by. As an actor, to do all sorts of different films is great. It stretches you in different ways. But, I increasingly like to go back to what I used to always do, which is to get involved with projects that I really have a personal affiliation with.”

Hugo Weaving even spoke about the projects he was associated with. He mentioned how he ended up finding out that The Hobbit trilogy recently. The actor even spoke about how he cannot envision the Red Skull returning back to Captain America Part 2. Eventually, this led to the studio looking for someone else to play the role of Red Skull who guarded the Soul Stone in Vormir. Ross Marquand bagged the role in the billion-dollar movie.

Keanu Reeves On Almost Losing The Role Of Neo In Matrix

It’s almost been two decades and Keanu Reeves’ Matrix is still one of the best movies in the sci-fi category in Hollywood. The portrayal of Neo by the famous actor got him critical acclaim from the biggest movie experts in the entertainment world. During his appearance on the podcast The Art of Action, the actor spoke about how he could have lost the role of Neo. The John Wick actor revealed that he had just finished the filming of his movies Speed and They Call Him Bodhi which had led to significant neck injuries. Keanu Reeves confessed-

“I had spent a couple of years fighting it, I was getting tingles. I had a disc bulge and also a ruptured disc, and I started losing feeling and balance.”

According to his meeting with the Wachowski sisters, the Speed actor, he had to follow strict martial arts training in Hong Kong, He did not want to miss out on the project and went on to accept the proposal. Keanu Reeves further mentioned-

“I said yes to Matrix and four months into the training, but it was pretty bad, so I went to a neck doctor and I also had spinal stenosis, my spine was being mutilated, basically. I never told anyone because I didn’t want to tell anyone I couldn’t do the movie. They put the plate on my neck and told me to start moving right away.
I had to train for the Matrix with a neck brace.”

Keanu Reeves is one of the most loved personalities in the world of entertainment. The actor is not only known for his dedication to his projects but also for his simple and down-to-earth behavior. He is also known for his charities and he never speaks about them in any podcast or interview.
