Pamela Denise Anderson is a Canadian actress and model. She is known for her illustrious Playboy modeling career and hit TV series-Baywatch. Anderson refuses to watch Baywatch despite it being a move that made her career. Pamela Anderson just like many other actors cannot watch herself on screen. Just like we feel a bit of cringe every time we hear our voice in a recording.
Thus, the actor recently claimed that she hasn’t watched any of the episodes of the hit TV series. Fans are shocked. For the unversed, Baywatch is an American comedy-action drama television series about lifeguards who patrol the beaches of Los Angeles County. The series gained most of its popularity after being canceled after its first season by NBC. Baywatch amassed a weekly audience of over 1.1 billion viewers and became a pop culture phenomenon instantly.

Why Pamela Anderson isn’t a fan of Baywatch?
Despite it being the peak of her career, the former Broadway performer Pamela Anderson isn’t really a fan of the hit TV series turned pop culture phenomenon. She has many controversial moments in her career during that time and maybe she doesn’t want to revisit them or maybe she just couldn’t bother less.
Pamela Anderson recently revealed that she almost did not take up this career-changing opportunity. Be it pride, laziness, or ego but she did not show up for the said audition.
“I was asked to audition for Baywatch numerous times since I appeared in Playboy.”
Until she did, which made her what she is today.
“But I didn’t like to drive in L.A. I’d never been on an audition. So I never went. Until one day I tagged along with a friend. We were both hired on the spot. They said I was famous before I walked in the door. Famous for not showing up.”
Not one of the actress’s fondest memories.
Reportedly she earned $300,000 per episode throughout its course. Although the show brought her a lot of fame and recognition in the industry looking back the memories associated with it aren’t something she wants to go back to.
“I’ve never seen an episode of Baywatch. I can’t watch myself on television. Believe it or not, neither could Tommy”. The actress stated.
“I never felt really confident in what I was doing in the past. I don’t regret Baywatch. It was a positive experience for me, and it did me a lot of good. I mean, a lot of good! But, c’mon, what was I supposed to do? Go home and have Baywatch parties and have my friends come over and watch me on television?”
Pamela Anderson might not want to return to those days but is immensely grateful for all the opportunity it has brought her.
Some things should be left untouched
With the rising of OTT platforms, the number of reboots and sequels has also increased exponentially. Similarly, rebooting old shows is in fashion with the renewal of iCarly, a reboot of How I Met Your Mother into How I Met Your Father, and the reunion of FRIENDS. Director Jeremy Garelick hopped into the trend with a Baywatch film adaptation. Despite her being in the cast of the film she did not enjoy the idea of anyone tampering with the TV series.
“Let’s just keep the bad TV as bad TV. That’s what’s charming about Baywatch, you know? Trying to make these movies out of television, is just messing with it,” Pamela Anderson stated.
Although the film did fairly well at the box office judging from her statement she won’t be joining the upcoming Baywatch movie if one gets made at all.
