Canadian filmmaker James Cameron is undoubtedly one of the best directors in Hollywood as he established himself as a prominent figure in the post-New Hollywood era. James Cameron Gave an Update Regarding Avatar 3‘s Release

The Avatar film franchise is a series of epic science fiction films that follows the indigenous Na’vi’s fight against the humans who try to colonize and plunder the habitable moon Pandora and use its natural resources. The planned sequel series was not announced by 20th Century Fox until a week before the release of the movie Avatar in 2009, which was followed by Avatar: The Way of Water in December 2022.

Avatar 3’s release date has been delayed quite a few times now with the date being shifted from 2015 to 2016, 2017, and then 2018. The COVID-19 pandemic added to the list of reasons that were causing the delay. During an industry conference with local TV and film producers recently, James Cameron told 1News that the movie is in post-production: “We’re into a very hectic two years of post-production right now, so it’ll be Christmas of 25.

With a script that was completed in late 2015, Avatar 3‘s filming had been done alongside its predecessor in New Zealand. Reportedly, the filming was completed by December 2020. While there is no confirmation regarding the plot of the movie, it is being expected that it will be picked where The Way of Water left off.

James Cameron Revealed Whether or Not the Leaked Avatar Titles Were Legitimate

James Cameron had previously said that Avatar 3 could be released in December 2024. The date was pushed back once again owing to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes which pulled the brakes on the production of several major movies including MCU’s Deadpool 3.

At the premiere of the movie Alita: Battle Angel, Entertainment Tonight‘s Ashley Crossan asked The Terminator director about the legitimacy of the Avatar titles that were leaked in 2018. As expected, Cameron gave a diplomatic answer, saying:

“I can neither confirm nor deny. All right, here’s what I’ll tell ya. Those titles are among titles that are in consideration. And no final decisions have been made yet.”

According to BBC News, the leaked titles are as follows- Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider, and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa. This was in 2019, fast forward to 2022, and the second movie’s title turned out to be true, but only time will tell whether or not the titles of the upcoming movies will be the same as the leaked ones.
