DC roped in James Gunn as the CEO to revamp the studio and give the movies a fresh new look. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was the last film in Zack Snyder’s DCEU, after which Gunn was given the ropes to put his visionary mind at work and make movies that would excite fans and bring them back to theatres. In an attempt to create excitement for his upcoming rebooted DCU, Gunn is steadily sharing glimpses from behind the scenes.

First Look at Superman’s Suit

After sharing a behind-the-scenes image of the cast of Superman: Legacy from one of their table reads, James Gunn has now blown social media away with the first look at the titular hero’s suit in the movie via Instagram. With that, he also announced that principal photography for the much-awaited movie has officially begun, with the movie slated to release in July 2025.

In classic blue, red, and golden hues, the suit looks remarkable. Fans just have to wait and see how the lead actor David Corenswet will look in that suit. Joining Corenswet in Superman: Legacy are Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and Nathan Fillion, among more new faces set to step into the world of DC movies. Gunn and his partner Peter Safran expressed their enthusiasm over working with such great characters in the DCU who will be embodied by even more talented actors.

What’s more, the DCU CEO shared that the title of the movie will now be Superman as he revealed his process of writing and ideating the draft of the movie. He captioned the post,

“When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025. #Superman #HappyBirthdayClark #LeapYear #UpUpandAway”

The story of the movie will feature Superman’s journey to embrace his Kryptonian heritage along with hiding his superhero identity.

Upcoming DC Projects by James Gunn

While Robert Pattinson’s The Batman does not fall under Gunn’s DC purview, he is working on casting other characters to create a slate of movies that everyone will look forward to. Milly Alcock from House of the Dragon was recently cast as Supergirl. Her first appearance will be in Superman with her solo project Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, releasing soon after.

Gunn announced that the first chapter of DC movies will be called Gods and Monsters. This segment will have Superman, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing, and The Authority. HBO Max television shows Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, and an animated series Creature Commandos will also be a part of this release schedule.
