Jeremy Allen White Embarrassed Himself in Front of Michael C. Hall After Getting Obsessed With ‘Dexter’ Star
Best known for Iron Claw, The Bear and Shameless, Jeremy Allen White has been the star of 2023. With more brand endorsements and advertisements lined up, White is literally everywhere. After the success of his two projects in 2023, the actor also received an Emmy nomination for his exceptional performance. However, the actor has had some embarrassing encounters too.
Jeremy Allen White’s Encounter With Michael C. Hall
Shameless actor Jeremy Allen White recalls bumping into Dexter star Michael C. Hall at a holiday party hosted by Showtime. The channel presents both shows Dexter and Shameless that always went toe to toe in the weekly ratings with Dexter coming out on top in most cases. The conversation in the interview with the Chicago Tribune started with fans recognizing White on Chicago streets back in 2012, but it went on with White recounting his fanboy moment.
“I was really nervous and I happened to know too much about him (Michael C. Hall). I was like ‘My Mom is from North Carolina. You’re from North Carolina. My Mom went to (the same school as you).’ Once I got it out of my system, I calmed down a bit. He was very complimentary of (‘Shameless’).”
White seemed obsessed with the Dexter star and knew too much about him. At the same time, it is understandable too because knowing such tiny details about our favourite stars brings us closer to them and makes us understand them better. It also adds a layer of relatability where it is not impossible to fathom a space shared by us and our beloved celebrity. Nonetheless, White was on his way to becoming a huge star himself. Shameless was doing well and was renewed for a third season that year. When asked if he watches himself on TV, he said,
“I don’t watch (‘Shameless’) until there is some distance. Otherwise I’ll get too critical of myself and drive myself crazy. I’ll watch in a dark room alone in the fetal position and maybe have a notebook and write things down …”
The 32-year-old actor has been featured in numerous movies since then that have explored his range and versatility. From comedy and romance to thriller and suspense, the actor has diversified to garner a wide filmography that sets him apart from his contemporaries today.
But Did Jeremy Allen White Meet Michael C Hall In Reality?
In another interview with Vulture in 2013, the actor reportedly mentioned that he has never met the Dexter star even though he wishes to. This threw a curveball in the story that White previously described in the 2012 interview. Afraid of meeting his hero, White spoke about Hall and Sam Rockwell both.
“I haven’t met Michael C. Hall yet. But, I don’t know. I think a lot of the people I really admire, it’s almost that I wouldn’t want to meet them. I just feel like your imagination — keep it in your head, you know what I mean? Not to ruin anything. I mean, I love Sam Rockwell, like, so much. I think he’s one of the best actors acting right now, and I think he’s incredibly underrated. And even though he’s doing great roles and doing perfectly fine, I still think he should be given more sought-after roles. I just think he’s the best. And I have some friends that are friends with him, and I’ve been asked if I’d like to meet him before, and I’m kind of like, I don’t know, I don’t know if I want to. You know? I don’t know if I could handle it.”
Given his embarrassing encounter with Hall at the party (if it happened in reality), it might be possible that White wanted to forget the incident altogether. But with the two contradictory stories in the press, it is difficult to figure out what truly happened. Maybe in the next interview with The Bear star, the media needs to get the record straightened out.
