If we believe a new report, it seems like a DC veteran is headed towards the world of Watchmen.
We all know that the Watchmen TV series are on its way and according to the newest report, Jeremy Irons have been considered for the lead role in the show. The reports reveal that he will play “an aging lord of a British Manor”.
The actor is best known for playing Alfred in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League and also not forgetting his roles in The Lion King and Dead Ringers.
In addition to this, the cast will include Don Johnson, Regina King, Tim Blake Nelson and Andrew Howard. We haven’t heard any updates regarding their roles in the show.
The show is largely set in Tulsa, Oklahoma and will focus on characters that were not established in the Watchmen comic series. If we go by the set photos leaked, the original plot of Watchmen will serve as a jumping point for the television series.
Executive Producer Damon Lindelof revealed in a recent post that they don’t intend to adapt the 12 issues Mr. Moore and Mr. Gibbons created 30 years ago. He further added that those issues are sacred ground and shall not be retreated or recreated.
“But they will, however, be remixed,” he continued. He says that when the New Testament came out, it did not erase the Old Testament. Creation. The Garden of Eden. The Flood. Abraham and Isaac. The same would be the case with Watchmen. The Comedian died and Dan and Laurie fell in love. Ozymandias saved the world and Dr. Manhattan let it just after he’s blew Rorschach to pieces in the Antarctican cold.
