John Cena’s Last WWE Match
Wrestling is a tactile sport that requires agility and massive strength to take your opponent down. After winning a record 16 WWE world championships, John Cena seems ready to hang up his gloves. The 46-year-old beloved celebrity is known for his quirky sense of humour and his most recent blockbuster series Peacemaker by James Gunn. Cena was also seen in a cameo role in the worldwide phenomenon Barbie.
In a recent conversation on The One Show on BBC, Cena shared his plans to return to the ring for one final match. Facing defeat last year must have been tough for the wrestler, but he has never let that get in his way and is ready to take on new challenges. Cena returned to WWE last year at the O2 arena and shares that his last wrestling WWE match will happen in the United Kingdom. He said,
“Fans in the UK, WWE fans, they’re the best & fans in London specifically they will let you know how they feel & I don’t think I’ll be able to choose my opponent but if I could choose a venue it’d be the O2 in London.”
"UK Fans of @WWE are the best!" 🥊

Cena will next be seen in Argylle which also stars Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa. The much-awaited action flick will hit the screens in February 2024. Seems like Cena’s flourishing Hollywood career is allowing the actor to give up wrestling. Cena further claimed that this decision has been on his mind for quite some time now.
Is John Cena Retiring From Wrestling?
While promoting Argylle, Cena candidly shared his plans with ET Online which outline his plans to retire from WWE soon. The actor will be turning 50 in 2027 and that is the retirement timeline he had in mind. He appears pretty firm in his decision as he has given his retirement much thought. Cena is ready to retire and fans are upset to see their favourite wrestler say goodbye to the sport.
“I’m gonna be 47 this year. I feel great. So inside I feel great, but I know what it takes to be a WWE performer night in and night out and I don’t ever wanna just go out there and do it to do it. I wanna have the passion — the same passion as the fanbase — and I wanna give them exactly what they give me. The miles on the speedometer say, ‘Hey, that’s gotta be done before 50.'”
Cena is focusing on keeping healthy while preserving the trajectory he has undertaken in Hollywood. He further speaks about his experience with getting more roles in acting which don’t impact his health as much as even a short stint in wrestling does. However, the actor and wrestler has had one match every year since his debut and he never says never. His future decisions will be guided by his health conditions.
