Johnny Depp’s Ex Before Amber Heard Got Humiliating Requests to Get N**ked Even Before Her Contract Was Signed: “I was in California for the first time”
Sherilyn Fenn, an ex-girlfriend of actor Johnny Depp, was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for her performance as Audrey Horne in the 1990–1991–2017 television series Twin Peaks. Audrey Horne was one of the most popular characters on-screen which made Fenn famous. However, the actress did not have it easy as she worked to make a name for herself in the field.
Sherilyn Fenn starred in films like Wild at Heart, Of Mice and Men, Boxing Helena, etc., but she gained notoriety for playing Audrey Horne who is considered to have attained cult status due to a scene in which she danced to Angelo Badalameti’s music and a scene in which she knotted a cherry stem in her mouth.
Johnny Depp’s ex Sherilyn Fenn says Hollywood still does not protect young women
Actress Sherilyn Fenn, who is famous for portraying troublemaker Audrey Horne in Twin Peaks, has worked constantly throughout her career spanning 30 years but says that she doesn’t like to see her work, adding via Daily Telegraph,
“Ever since I was little, I thought I just sounded like a munchkin … it sounds so weird to me. I’m not able to be objective. I’d rather just work really hard. Some people will do a scene, then go back to watch it on the monitor, then they’ll come back and do it again.”
The actress who moved to California when she was seventeen years old noted that she wants to keep working because she has her kids and herself to support. She recalled the time when she was starting in the industry. She said,
“I was told once that I didn’t play the Hollywood game, and that’s why I wasn’t a big star. What they meant was that I don’t go to parties, and when I go to an audition and I don’t like the script, they know it.” She further added,
“I don’t flirt and I don’t play the people that I meet with. In the next breath, this person said to me, ‘When you’re passionate about a role, there’s nobody that can touch you, but you have to learn to do this also…’ But I don’t know how to sit there and pretend I love something when I don’t!”
She has a lot of respect for David Lynch, who she says during an interview in The Big Issue wrote the part for Audrey Horne for her as it was not in the script and added that it felt like God is making things happen for her in a certain way.
Sherilyn Fenn says women are disposable in Hollywood
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the actress who wrote a children’s book, No Man’s Land, about a boy who has autism after her son was diagnosed mentioned that it was hard to take him slowly out into the world. She added,
“We received a lot of judgment. He was very much ‘my way or the highway’, and would have huge fits. But to think [all children] see and learn things the same way is a huge mistake. So there was a lot to learn, and a lot to continue to learn, just to keep him growing and protected.”
The actress has always mentioned how her fans have always supported her, adding that they have helped her get through the toughest time in life. Toward the end of the interview with Daily Telegraph the actress mentioned,
“You’re disposable in a business like this, especially as a woman getting older. And then you learn some little character you played touched people’s hearts, and they tell you about it, and it touches you. Sometimes people come up and start crying, then I cry, and I don’t even know what’s going on!” She lastly adds, everyone is just broken, doing their best they can before she said,
“When critics would say I was a s*x kitten or comfortable with my body – anybody that knew me would laugh. Because I was this normal, goofy, Catholic girl – a little bit repressed. That is why I explore these things in my roles.”
The actress added that even today the industry does not protect young women from being s**ualized.
