Karen Gillan Shares New Behind-The-Scene Pic From ‘The Funeral’ Scene In ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
With Avengers: Endgame having been out for weeks out, the cast and crew are posting behind-the-scenes photos and more with relative ease. As such, a new BTS photo from Avengers: Endgame has popped up which shows everyone who was present at Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) funeral.
It’s been a month since Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga has culminated at the theatres but it still remains a favorite topic of discussion among fans.
A Short Recap Of Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame is the direct sequel to last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. Endgame tackled the aftermath of Thanos’ win against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
After a haphazard attempt at revenge, the heroes had no choice but to sit through five years knowing that they failed in protecting not just their home planet but the whole universe. But there was a glimmer of hope blossoming after Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) suggested the idea of a Time Heist.
So the Avengers banded back together to bring back everyone lost following The Snap.
Ultimately, they went back in time, gathered the Infinity Stones and succeeded in reversing the Snap but it didn’t come without sacrifices.
A major death was of Iron Man who died using the gauntlet to make sure that Thanos never threatens the galaxy ever again.
The Funeral
Initially Stark didn’t want to join the time heist because he was skeptical of tampering with the timeline and he had a lot to lose. He had a new life consisting of his wife Pepper Potts and a daughter called Morgan. He tells that this (his family) is his ‘second chance’. But he still figured out a way to time travel safely and made the ultimate sacrifice by using the gauntlet to bring everyone back.

Considering what he gave up, almost every hero in the MCU gathered together for Stark’s emotional funeral. It’s one of the most star-studded sequences in Endgame, with multiple award-winning actors playing their respective roles in the superhero universe- from Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym to Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.
Recently, Karen Gillan (Nebula) shared a behind-the-scenes image of everyone in that particular scene alongside the Russos, Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige and several crew members in a group shot which she captioned as “family portrait“. You can check out her tweet below:

Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) isn’t there because her character died way before the end and that too without any funeral.
Why Was This Scene Called ‘The Wedding’?
It should also be kept in mind just how difficult it was to have everyone together as the time they had to shoot the movie was limited and stand-ins were used for a lot of scenes. Even this scene wasn’t disclosed as Tony Stark’s funeral to the actors, instead, it was called ‘The Wedding‘ to prevent spoilers. With such secrecy regarding spoilers, the fact that we got this picture is nothing short of miraculous.
