- Karl Urban joined the rest of the cast and crew for a Lord of the Rings reunion.
- He delivered his iconic dialogue while wearing the war helmet.
- Director Peter Jackson further shared how Sean Bean's speech came to be.
While many people recognize Karl Urban from his iconic Billy Butcher role from The Boys, very few are familiar with his work before that. Urban has been in the industry for a long time, having been a part of successful franchises like Marvel and even the fantasy series Lord of the Rings.
The New Zealand-born actor is known for his humorous tactics and accent that automatically sets him apart from the rest. In 2020, in a video call, the entire cast of Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King caught up with each other where Urban reenacted his famous scene.
Karl Urban ignites nostalgia with Lord of the Rings scene reenactment
In the iconic film franchise, actor Karl Urban plays Éomer, a warrior of the highest order. Wearing the signature helmet, Éomer leads the Riders of Rohan into battle with courage and dignity. He is also known to be a bit arrogant and proud as he believes Merry should not accompany them into the battlefield.
During the reunion meeting, the cast and crew of the movie came together to discuss their favorite moments and give fans a taste of sweet nostalgia. Urban donned his iconic warrior helmet in the call and even delivered his dialogues in the same tone and voice. Viewers were instantly transported back to the year 2003 when they first witnessed the story. He delivered the dialogue,
You should not encourage him… I do not doubt his heart, only the reach of his arm… You know as little of wars at Hobbit. When fear takes him and the blood and the screams of the horror battle take hold, do you think he would stand a fight?
Not just them, but even the cast and other members on the call applauded his performance and claimed that it was just like the good old days. Urban’s dialogue explains the terrors of war and showcases how Merry is unfit to ride into battle. Eowyn helps Merry with his armor and even argues with Éomer to let him go to battle.
Peter Jackson reveals the secret behind Mordor meme dialogue
Director Peter Jackson revealed how he thought of the iconic “One does not simply walk to Mordor” dialogue just a day before the scene was to be shot. The memorable speech was so long and tedious that actor Sean Bean could not remember the entire dialogue. Jackson reveals,
What Sean did, which I thought was really clever, is he got a print-out of the speech taped to his knee. If you watch the scene now, you’ll see every time that Sean has to check his script.
Josh Gad is the one to thank for bringing all the cast and crew of the Lord of the Rings trilogy together during the pandemic to reminisce on one of the most loved movie franchises. The call was titled One Zoom to Rule Them All, a classic callback to the famous lore of the movie.
Lord of the Rings trilogy is streaming on Prime Video and Netflix.
