- Khabib Nurmagomedov hinted at Conor McGregor’s alleged wrongdoings back in 2019 on social media.
- He called McGregor a "r*pist" with an image where the Irish fighter can be seen touching a woman's thighs.
- McGregor is currently facing trial for s*xual assault which took place in 2018.
Mixed Martial Artist Conor McGregor is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. He has been accused of s*xual assault and r*pe by a woman who filed a case recently in Ireland. The alleged incident happened back in 2018. However, it seems like the longest-reigning lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov knew what was going on beforehand.
Here’s why people think Nurmagomedov hinted at McGregor’s alleged wrongdoings back in 2019 on social media.
Khabib Nurmagomedov Called Conor McGregor a “R*pist”
It all started when Conor McGregor called Khabib Nurmagomedov’s wife a “towel.” In an X post that has since been deleted, McGregor posted a picture of the Russian martial artist and his wife and he included this insult in the caption. This angered many fans who called this a low blow and criticized McGregor for his demeaning comment.
Though Nurmagomedov did not immediately respond to the post, his manager called McGregor a r*pist and condemned the comment he made. The Russian wrestler’s response came in 2019 when he made a post on X (formerly called Twitter) and called McGregor a “r*pist.” He posted an image with McGregor who was seen touching a woman’s thighs.
Nurmagomedov further claimed that justice will find him no matter what happens. The post is going viral now when McGregor is actually undergoing a trial for s*xual assault and r*pe. Nikita Ní Laimhín filed charges in Dublin Court and the case is currently being heard in the court. Ní Laimhín and McGregor seemed to know each other from the same social circle and hung out together often.
The claims by Ní Laimhín included McGregor picking her up after a Christmas party and taking her to a hotel where he allegedly r*ped her. However, McGregor’s attorneys are fighting the claims to the best of their abilities and claiming that this is a way for Ní Laimhín to extort the Notorious fighter for money. Ní Laimhín’s lawyers countered by showing medical records and checkups that show brutal bruises and scars on her body.
Has Conor McGregor retired from MMA?
McGregor is not just a notorious fighter but is also known for claiming retirement multiple times only to return to the ring yet again to fight another day. It all began in 2016 when the MMA fighter wrote on X that he would be retiring from the sport. This was seemingly because of a conflict between McGregor and UFC since the Irishman was unwilling to participate in promotional activities.
Another such claim came in 2019 after his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov which he lost in the ring. The two later got embroiled in a brawl. And yet again McGregor made a comeback mere months after the claim.
The martial artist has done so once more in 2020 and his most recent retirement claim was made in October 2024. However, he has since deleted that comment on X which made fans think he is unsure about his decision and might soon return to the ring.
