The Warhammer 40000 franchise has garnered renewed interest amongst the fans. What started from a simple tabletop game has become a comic book and video game empire. The games in the Warhammer 40000 franchise have been primarily in the first person shooter and action genre. And Warhammer 40000k Darktide is no different. It is a project based on the same genre, using the same rules and mechanics. But it seems like it is a way, way better game than anything the Warhammer franchise has thrown our way.
Why are we talking about a game whose trailer had already been released in 2020? If the game had not gained enough public traction then, how come this game will be any big? To be frank, the fan base’s fascination with high value gaming projects knows no bounds. People talk at lengths about Cyberpunk and Ghost of Tsushima. In all this blockbuster hullabaloo, we have forgotten Warhammer 40k Darktide.
And it is an absolute travesty that we are not talking about this game more. So naturally Animated Times is here to let you know about this game that should be on your list but sadly isn’t.
The Story
The story of Warhammer 40k Darktide is set within the larger Warhammer 40000 universe. 4 players play as 4 different characters who are tasked with entering a hive city and handling a Chaos Infiltration. Admonition cultists have wreaked havoc on Atoma Prime and they are on the verge of taking over the planet. It is up to you to bring the word of the God Emperor to the resurrectionists and take back the sprawling hive city.
The game is set during the franchise’s Indomitus era and you play as a lowly prisoner. Your task is to convey a critical message about the enemy to the Hive City of Tertium before it is too late.
The Trailer
The trailer has revealed a rather engaging gameplay. Players will play as one of four players in a 4 player co-operative setup. It seems just like the Left 4 Dead franchise. As hordes of A.I controlled enemies come to take you down, your job is to cut a path and kill them all. The game differs from previous Warhammer Vermintide games in the sense that it focuses on both fire-arms as well as melee based combat.
Another unique feature is that the environment will no longer have wide and open areas. The fights will happen in closed, claustrophobic surroundings. So it will definitely be a new experience.
When Will It Release
Now here comes the bad news. Warhammer 40k Darktide was announced almost a year ago. The developer studio still has not given a definitive release window, let alone a release date. The Warhammer fans were assured that the game would come out this year. But since there has been literally no further updates, we might have to wait longer. the Warhammer and first person shooter fans have started to forget that this game project even exists.
All we have to say is be strong. The Imperium of Man will not leave any man behind. Chaos will not reign supreme.
