King Charles Reportedly Sent Meghan Markle Email Invitation to Coronation Ceremony – The Least Formal Mode of Invitation That Proves the Royal Family No Longer Gives a Damn About Her
The royal family has made its first move, or is it just a formality to get the blame off their shoulders? The upcoming coronation of King Charles III is objectively one of the most important historical events of this year. Speculations about whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be welcome or not, and even if he would choose to attend or not have been running wild, and at least one of these questions has been nipped in the bud. The duke and duchess of Sussex have been sent an official invitation for the royal ceremony slated to take place on May 6 in Westminster Abbey. But it’s not the kind of “royal” invitation one might expect for a prince…
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were invited via email to King Charles III’s coronation
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received an invitation to King Charles III‘s coronation via email, and fans can’t help but sense some mixed signals here. The news was shared by the Sussexes’ spokesperson but it hasn’t been confirmed if they plan on accepting the invitation and attending the royal event or not; which happens to coincide with their son Archie’s 4th birthday.
At the moment, even an email invite might be surprising for a few considering the rife tensions between the royal family and the estranged couple following the release of Prince Harry’s bombshell tell-all memoir, Spare. Many thought that it might prove to be the last nail in the coffin of Harry’s relations with his family which have been tense for years now.
The father of two himself left almost no stone unturned in making shocking and serious allegations against several of his family members, but despite all of it he still hoped for reconciliation. He told Tom Bradby during an interview with ITV,
“The door is always open. The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to be discussed, and I really hope that they are willing to sit down and talk about it.”
About his father’s coronation and the speculation surrounding the same, he said, “a lot that can happen between now and then.”
That is some optimism. But several people have pointed out that an email invite screams “I don’t really want you to come but I’m obligated to invite you so here it is”. After all, royal affairs are supposed to take place with royal élan.
Will Prince Harry attend the royal event?
However, some reports suggest that the Duke of Sussex might not be the only one who wants to mend wall. The King himself wishes to “calm down” the tensions between the family and the estranged prince. But he cannot be all-out in his support for his younger son since his older, Prince William is particularly upset with his brother. Prince William was after all accused of resorting to violence in an excerpt from Spare. The email invite could be an attempt for King Charles to show a neutral stance between his two sons.
If Prince Harry does choose to attend the coronation, Netflix would probably be the happiest since they have reportedly been coaxing the royal pariah to attend the ceremony to get some explosive content and break even more streaming records after Harry & Meghan. Taking into account that despite speculations, Harry chose to stand with his brother and father during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, he might as well be present for this one.
