The two have assumed full ownership of the club from the Wrexham Supporters Trust. Under the terms of the agreement, Reynolds and McElhenney have made a $2 million investment in the club. Reynolds and McElhenney purchased Wrexham in a media frenzy in 2020, putting the faltering team and the North Wales community into the mainstream. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are true Hollywood and entertainment legends. Reynolds plays the Marvel character Hannibal King, while McElhenney founded and stars in the US sitcoms FXX and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Ryan Reynolds has reacted to Wrexham AFC Women’s recent victory

Reynolds and McElhenney have hailed Wrexham AFC Women’s latest victory. They scored five goals against Llandudno Ladies, the reigning Women’s Welsh Premier League winners. Wrexham have now done the double over them, and Rob McElhenney called the accomplishment absolutely magnificent in a post-game tweet.  Wrexham co-owner, Ryan Reynolds, also tweeted:

The proprietors of Wrexham AFC’s women’s team have applied to participate in the Adran Premier League Division beginning next season. And it appears that Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is all prepared, as he announced the news on Twitter.

Promotion to the top tier of the Welsh women’s pyramid will only be confirmed once a license to play in the top flight is obtained. Last season, Wrexham’s ownership ruled against applying after finishing second to Adran North winners Llandudno.
