The charismatic Tom Hiddleston is set to return to Disney+ to reprise his role of Loki, the God of Mischief, in season two of the popular Marvel series.

The character of Loki first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011’s Thor and quickly established himself as one of the quirkiest recurring characters of the MCU. Such has been Loki’s arc and his subsequent popularity that after the death of the original Loki in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Hiddleston again picked up the role – this time a variant of Loki from an alternative timeline – in Avengers: Endgame (2019).

In the movie, Loki steals the Tesseract and escapes with it. And this is the storyline that is elaborated in Marvel’s 2021 six-episode series titled Loki.

When Will We Get To See the Sequel of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki

Note: This part of the article contains Spoilers from season 1 of Loki.

Loki-on-the-run – a protagonist in this version as opposed to his exploits in the Marvel movies – gets arrested by the Time Variance Authority after his escape from the Battle of New York.

As Loki (Tom Hiddleston) faces trial for his crimes and threat of being erased, he gets the option to redeem himself by catching a dangerous variant version of himself, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino).

The show also features Owen Wilson as agent Mobius – who has the ability to use TVA’s time travel technology – and Miss Minutes, an artificial intelligence that serves TVA.

What started as a chase ends up blossoming into a bond that sees Loki and Sylvie join hands. The latter eventually stabs the mastermind behind TVA, He Who Remains (a variant of Kang the Conqueror), leading to the MCU timeline growing branches all around at the same time.

Going by the trailer of Loki 2, the chaos sparked in season 1 has followed him in the sequel, as he struggles with Time Slipping, a newly introduced concept in MCU.

The season which will premiere on Disney+ on October 6, will see Loki work alongside Mobius to unravel the secrets of this mysterious issue and face with the dilemma of choosing “who lives and who dies.”

Who Will Feature in Season 2 of Loki Alongside Tom Hiddleston

The likes of Wilson, Di Martino, and Mbatha-Raw will all reprise their respective roles alongside Hiddleston. While Jonathan Majors will also return in a much more ferocious variant of Kang the Conqueror.

The surprise addition will be Ke Huy Quan, who was absolutely phenomenal in Everything Everywhere All At Once and received a lot of love, including an Oscar in Best Supporting Actor category for his portrayal of Waymond.

What will be his role – titled O.B. – and how he’d help (if at all) Loki remains to be seen, but the trailer suggests he understands the concept of Time Slipping.

Kate Dickie, who’s popular for playing Lysa Arryn in Game of Thrones, will also join the cast as a villain in Loki Season 2.
