Mahershala Ali Gives the Most Positive Blade Update
After a long overdue wait, the Blade movie seems to be in the works at Marvel Studios. Seems like the MCU is expanding to integrate many new characters from the comics and explore their individual stories. Four years ago at the San Diego Comic-Com, the studios unveiled the plan to make a Blade movie with Mahershala Ali playing the iconic character. Fans have waited eagerly for an update on the project, and it is finally here.

Mahershala Ali says he is “sincerely encouraged” by the progress of Marvel Studios’ 'BLADE':

Screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour of Watchmen was brought on board to develop the screenplay, with Mogul Mowgli director Bassam Tariq leading the production in 2019. Blade announced a November 3, 2023 release date at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022; Tariq left the project soon after. The film was subsequently postponed until September 2024 when Yann Demange, the filmmaker of Lovecraft Country, was chosen to take over.
The writer’s strike of 2023 pushed the project further down the road. Blade will reportedly hit the theatres on November 7, 2025 as of now. Written by Michael Green, the vampire hunter movie will also feature Aaron Pierre, Delroy Lindo, and Mia Goth.
Mahershala Ali has already entered the MCU after making a voice cameo in the movie Eternals. In an interview with EW, he said,
“We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you. I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon. I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that. So that’s the extent of what I can tell you.”

What Will Blade Be About?
Wesley Snipes starred in the immensely successful Blade trilogy. At a period when the MCU didn’t even seem like a distant possibility, the movies helped bring Marvel’s vampire hero into the light and increased his appeal. It also gave rise to a brief TV show. When the new reboot debuts, all eyes will be on it, and, hopefully, it will be worth watching.
Since the movie is pushing a new character into the MCU fold, it will be very interesting to see Blade interact with the existing MCU superheroes. Since Doctor Strange and Blade were a part of the MCU Midnight Sons, it’s possible we might see them together in a movie. The possible storyline and the characters of the movie are yet to be announced, so we need to sit tight and await an official statement from Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios.
