Marvel Could Finally Bring Its Beloved LGBTQ Character On-screen With Kit Connor Casting But It Would Pose One Major Challenge – Report
- Rumors suggest Kit Connor may play Hulkling in the MCU.
- Fans worry about typecasting as Joe Locke joins 'Agatha All Along' as Wiccan, who is Hulking’s love interest.
- Connor and Locke already played love interests in Netflix’s 'Heartstopper.'
There are new rumors in the MCU about the casting of Hulkling. The rumors suggest that Marvel Studios might choose Kit Connor to play Hulkling — a much-loved LGBTQ character in the Cinematic Universe.
Teddy Altman, aka Hulkling, is a mix of Skrull and Kree aliens, who use his unique heritage to fight for good. But fans are divided over this casting. Some are celebrating the chance for representation on screen, while others worry about typecasting.
Kit Conner Reportedly Considered for Hulkling Role in the MCU
Hulkling, or Teddy Altman, is a powerful shape-shifter. He’s romantically involved with Wiccan, another important LGBTQ character in the comics. Wiccan’s real name is William “Billy” Kaplan-Altman. Though born to doctors, he is the reincarnated son of Scarlet Witch and Vision, which gives him magical mutant powers.
Interestingly, Joe Locke, Kit Connor’s co-star from the Netflix show Heartstopper, will be playing Wiccan in the new Disney+ series Agatha All Along. Fans are thrilled about the possibility of this beloved on-screen couple reuniting as superheroes.
Joe and Kit’s chemistry stays chemistrying, so I’m here for it! Would love to see it in the MCU.

Fans supporting this casting choice emphasize the strong connection between Connor and Locke, which could wonderfully depict the love story of Hulkling and Wiccan.
Marvel Studios values character relationships, and the two stars already have a solid base for this. Moreover, Connor’s growing popularity and his role as a compassionate character in Heartstopper fit nicely with Hulkling’s personality.
A Few Fans Want to Avoid the Lookalike Trap
Some fans are unsure about the rumored casting. They worry that seeing Kit Connor and Joe Locke as love interests again, like in Heartstopper, might feel too repetitive. One fan stated it would be more exciting if they played different characters in the MCU instead. Check out some more fan reactions:
That would be funny asf!!! HeartStopper couple in the MCU 😭

As amazing as that would be, we don’t need Kit and Joe to be typecast as each other’s love interests. I’m sure there’s plenty of actors that can do an excellent job besides him

I really like both actors, but all of this is just lazy. They dont have the good writing and actors to make a good adaptation and need to use something ppl have already seen?! They're literally stealing an already done concept and growing into others success.

I hope this rumor stays a rumor. I love Joe and Kit and would love to see them in another project together, but not this soon. They need to do their own things for a while before they do another project. Also, Joe's casting in Agatha has been getting so much negativity

This viewpoint shows how actors can get stuck in a type of role, making it hard for them to try different kinds of characters. It’s not sure yet if Connor will play Hulkling in those green and purple colors. But people talking about this rumor shows how LGBTQ characters are becoming more important in superhero projects.
Marvel Studios has made big moves lately, with characters like Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson), who is bisexual, and Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston), who is genderfluid. If Connor is cast as Hulkling, it could be another important move towards making the MCU more inclusive. But it’s ultimately Marvel Studios who will decide in the end.
