Marvel Star Ben Barnes Is Open to DC – 6 DCU Villain Roles Perfect for Him
Ben Barnes played the role of Billy Russo/Jigsaw in the Marvel series The Punisher. Since then, he has had several talks to feature in other comic book-based projects but it hasn’t come to fruition just yet. Interestingly, he wants to be a part of a superhero movie before he’s too old.
While speaking to SFX Magazine, Barnes seemed to be open to joining the DCU and said (H/T TOI):
“I’ve watched all the Marvel movies. DC is going to start becoming an interesting space again. ‘Batman’ feels taken but I love that style of alter-ego/hero.”
That said, we will take a look at six villains from the DCU that will be perfect for him.

Hush
Hush is a supervillain appearing in American comic books released by DC Comics. The character debuted in the now legendary Batman: Hush arc in 2003 and since then he’s been one of the most popular and infamous characters in Batman’s rogues’ gallery.
It is worth noting that Hush hasn’t featured in Batman’s Hollywood movies as of yet and including the character in the upcoming Batman 2 might be a perfect opportunity to bring Ben Barnes into the DCU.

Prometheus
Another villain character that might suit Ben Barnes is that of Prometheus. He is one of the main antagonists in the DC Comics universe and is primarily an enemy of the Justice League. He wants to destroy any and all forms of justice and is often considered to be an evil counterpart to Batman.
The villain arc of Prometheus begins when his criminal parents are killed in front of him by the police as a result, he vows to be the enemy of law and justice.
Black Mask
Black Mask is also another character appearing in the comic books published by DC. Also known as Roman Sionis, Black Mask appeared as a minor antagonist in the 2016 animated movie, Batman: Bad Blood. Moreover, he appeared in the 2018 animated film Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay and the 2020 DC Extended Universe film Birds of Prey. The character was played by Ewan McGregor.
Black Mask is certainly an interesting character which will give a perfect opportunity to Ben Barnes to make his way into the DCU if the character is included in the upcoming Batman 2.
Scarecrow
Scarecrow is one of the most terrifying DC comic book supervillains. Created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson, the character made its first appearance in the World’s finest comic’s issue #3. Dr. Jonathan Crane was a former professor of psychology, who was brilliant, at fear psychology. He turned to crime after he was fired from his college.
Scarecrow has made numerous notable appearances over the previous three decades. From his multiple appearances in Batman: The Animated Series to Cillian Murphy’s Jonathan Crane role being the only villain to appear in all three of Nolan’s Batman films, it is certainly a role that can be explored for Ben Barnes.
Anarky
Anarky made his first first appearance in Detective Comics #608 (November 1989). He is one of the main antagonists of the 2013 animated series Beware the Batman. The character was voiced by Wallace Langham, who also voiced two other Batman villains, Ocean Master in Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Clayface II in The Batman.
The character is very twisted and has an ever-lasting desire to become Batman’s greatest foe. With DC looking to build a completely new universe, it will be interesting to see if Anarky gets included in the upcoming instalment of the Batman franchise.
Vandal Savage
Vandal Savage is a recurring antagonist of the Justice League animated series and is often considered to be the DCU’s Thanos. Savage is immortal and inextinguishable, so he has plagued the Earth with crime and violence since before the beginning of recorded human history.
He is a significant DC Comics villain and a character whose appearances have been limited to TV shows like Legends of Tomorrow, where he was the main antagonist for season 1. If the character is ever included in one of DC’s Hollywood movies, Ben Barnes might be the perfect candidate for it.
That said, this concludes our list of six villains that are perfect for Ben Barnes for his potential entry to the DCU.
