Marvel has sent its fans into a frenzy by releasing an exciting trailer for the Disney+ series Loki Season 2 which will see Tom Hiddleston reprise his role of the mischievous genius for another six-episode stint.

Marvel Studios’ decision to carve a very different timeline for the fan favorite ‘bad guy’ from Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019) in the form of a TV series paid great dividends following the release of Loki in 2021.

As such, not many were surprised by their decision to bring another story centered around a more mollified version of the movie’s Loki. Instead, most of the eyebrows have been raised by new surprise appearances and other factors that shaped the forthcoming show.

How Much Does Each Episode of Loki Season 2 Cost

Loki 2’s trailer has already stunned (and excited) fans by introducing Everything Everywhere All At Once star Ke Huy Quan to the series. The Oscar-winning actor will be playing the role of O.B., who (if hints from the trailer are to be considered) understands the critical issue of Time Slipping.

Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki, who combined with a female variant of himself Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), to seemingly beat Time Variance Authority’s supreme, He Who Remains, is slipping through various points in time in the show’s second season.

In the trailer, he’s shown visiting Huy Quan’s character with Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius to understand what he’s precisely going through. Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) is also set to return in the form of a much more dangerous and powerful variant.

Retaining such a huge star cast as well as adding new dynamics with new characters would’ve no doubt soared Disney’s budget, and Forbes’s latest report confirms these assumptions.

It’s understood the bosses spent as much as $141.3 million to complete Loki’s second journey, which is set to stream from October 6 on Disney+. Spread across six episodes, Disney is spending $23.5 million per episode, making the show one of its most expensive projects.

Loki Season 2 Budget Figures Are Still Behind Secret Invasion and Andor

Disney’s conviction in Hiddleston’s Loki series is incredible when one considers they’ve coughed up more in making the second season of the series than they did during the filming of their high-profile Marvel movies like Thor 2: The Dark World (£99.4 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy (£91.1 million).

However, despite its staggering budget, Loki Season 2 isn’t the production company’s biggest bet.

Emilia Clarke-led Secret Invasion Season 1 – which only concluded less than 10 days ago – cost a massive $212 million to complete. Still, the huge investment didn’t reflect on the storyline and in particular the season finale, which received a ton of worrying reviews.

Meanwhile, the action series Andor, which follows the story of Rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), stands right at the summit in terms of expenditure, which touched the $250 million mark.
