Probably no other Avenger in the MCU has suffered as much as Wanda Maximoff has! She has been dealing with trauma since her childhood and keeps on dealing with it even today. Wanda’s storyline in MCU has been characterized by grief compared to anyone else.

From her introduction way back in Age of Ultron to her limited series WandaVision, Wanda has suffered a lot of losses and it continues to. And we might probably see the same even in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Until then, here are the worst things that have happened to her in MCU!

1. She Lost Her Parents

Even though the family lived in Sokovia, Wanda and Pietro’s parents did their best to give them a pleasant childhood. They even tried to shelter the kids from the horrible things which were going on outside. Iryna and Olek Maximoff were killed when a Stark Enterprises missile was shot into their house. This further trapped Wanda and Pietro beneath the rubble for two days and the kids did survive.

This was a delicate moment in their lives because they went on to grow up hating Tony Stark and held him responsible for the death of their parents. Their lives changed from that day.

2. Being Experimented On

Wanda was introduced as one of two survivors of Baron von Strucker’s experiments (Hydra scientist), the second one being her brother Pietro. There is no doubt that these experiments gave the siblings some incredible power, but they were also inhumane and abusive in nature. All the other subjects actually met horrible deaths.

Strucker’s methods were some of the worst crimes which were committed by the Hydra organization (which was already wicked). Fans can imagine the pain she must have gone through even though we weren’t shown much about Wanda’s time in the lab.

3. She Lost Her Brother

After they had lost their parents, Pietro and Wanda just had each other as family. But Pietro sacrificed his own life to save Hawkeye and a young boy during the Battle of Sokovia in Age of Ultron. This made Quicksilver the first Avenger to lose his life while he was on “duty”.

There are theories that we might see a version of Quicksilver in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Just like the one where we could expect Tom Cruise as Iron Man). But, the fact that Wanda’s brother is dead, will never change. Her grief over losing her brother was portrayed in WandaVision and someone even mentioning his death would make her mad.

4. She Had To Kill Vision

When they realized that Thanos was just about to complete his Infinity Gauntlet, Vision asked Wanda to destroy the Mind Stone. This would also kill him in turn. She tried to convince him that they could find another solution. However, she had to give in to his request as only she was powerful enough to do so. She ended up killing Vision, the man she loved.

Losing someone you love is already painful without even being the one to end their life, so we can’t even imagine what Wanda went through.

5. She had to close the Hex

In the WandaVision finale, Wanda realizes that keeping her Hex over Westview was torturing the people there and she couldn’t continue to do so. She had to close her reality and ended up losing Vision as well as their two children in the process.

And Wanda came back to square one, she was once again left without her loved ones and was alone. The finale was heart-wrenching for the viewers and made all of us cry seeing Wanda say goodbye to the ones who mattered to her.
