Megan Thee Stallion Released the Potential Anime Anthem of the Year with a Twist that is Every Jujutsu Kaisen Fan’s Dream Come True
Though it may not have been on your 2024 bingo card, Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion persevered and delivered a powerful Jujutsu Kaisen-themed hit. Though Stallion nearly lost the essence of her new song, “Otaku Hot Girl,” which is rife with anime references, her path to the final release day wasn’t all sunshine and roses.
Megan, who loves anime a lot herself, was probably on Cloud 9 when she started working on this song. It’s off her third studio album, MEGAN. Even though the popular music artist lived up to her reputation as a dedicated anime fan, she had to make changes to the song a few days prior to its June 28 release.
Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Keep Winning As Megan Thee Stallion Releases a New Song
While Yuji Itadori is only a high school student in Jujutsu Kaisen fighting for his life on screen, he has gained the real-world attention of a well-known celebrity. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion, an anime enthusiast, makes a major shout-out to him on her latest album, MEGAN.
The English voice actor of Itadori narrates the song’s opening, “Otaku Hot Girl,” which has multiple references to Jujutsu Kaisen and other anime.

But what takes the cake is that Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, also enlists the help of the Jujutsu Kaisen protagonist Yuji Itadori’s English voice actor, Adam McArthur, who kicks off the track with an unexpected verse: “I like a tall woman with a nice big a** (Haha) / Just sayin’ / Like Grammy winner, Megan Thee Stallion.”
The introduction references a viral fan moment within the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom. When a character asks Itadori what kind of person he is, he responds, “A tall woman with a nice big a**. Just saying, Jennifer Lawrence.” Because of this and the fact that Megan is a well-known anime enthusiast, fans spread the theory that Itadori would likewise have feelings for Megan.
Megan Thee Stallion Had To Redo Her Song Despite It Being Cleared Earlier
Stallion claimed on her Instagram broadcast that in order to get the best deal with MAPPA Studios, the production studio that brought the renowned anime to life, she had to “jump through eight million hoops.” Stallion described the incident on social media, saying that after sending the song to them for clearance, they told her, “OK, you gotta change some words.”
As a result, she gave in to the pressure and complied. The company responded, “OK, if you shoot a video to this song, you cannot cosplay any of the characters in the show.” Because she wanted the song “really bad,” Stallion did everything in her power to placate the anime studio.

She then wrote the song in accordance with that. She declared that her debut record was “turned in” and prepared for distribution. However, a few days before her record was set to be released, her team received an email that said, “You can either have the music clearance or you can have the name clearance.” Though Stallion playfully conveyed her annoyance, her genuine anguish was clearly apparent.
She cried, “Take out the names of the characters that [are] in the show? [screams] That is the whole song! [screams] That makes the song make sense.” Although she expressed her gratitude to MAPPA for allowing her to sample the commercial tune for the anime without complaining, she couldn’t help but exclaim in misery when they asked her to change the names a day before the album came out.
