Melissa Joan Hart Was Nearly Replaced by Buffy the Vampire Slayer Star, Was Never Show’s First Choice

The Hollywood’s Teenage Witch Melissa Jona Hart was once nearly replaced from her iconic role as creators had someone else in mind. A recent revelation from a casting insider has reportedly confirmed that the creators of Sabrina the Teenage Witch wanted to cast the star from the cult-favorite show Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the place of Melissa Joan Hart.

Melissa Joan Hart was not the first choice of Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s creators

The 90s famous sitcom Sabrian the Teenage Witch revolved around the story of a 16-year-old girl Sabrian who discovers that she is a witch. The character of Sabrina was loved among teenagers the most back then and was played by Melissa Joan Hart.

However, a recent revelation has confirmed that Melissa Joan Hart was never the first choice of Sabrina the Teenage Witch creator. The creators first offered the role to Sarah Michelle Gellar who is well known for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Talking about this with the E-News the casting insider said “Before Melissa Joan Hart was cast in the titular role, Sarah Michelle Gellar was reportedly the network’s top choice. But she decided to pass on playing a witch to take on vampires in a little show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer instead.”

Even though Hart was never the first choice of the creators her performance in the sitcom indeed made her stand out. It will be safe to say that even though Sarah Michelle Gellar did not take the role her decision for choosing Buffy the Vampire Slayer was right.

Melissa Joan Hart shut down all the rumors about Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s reboot

The speculations of Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s reboot have been around ever since Melissa Joan Hart talked about it in a recent interview with Fab Life Show. However, as the rumors have gone wild the actor herself took the responsibility to squash them all out.

While talking about the show and its reboot on the Fab Life Show a few weeks ago, Hart said “They’re throwing around Clarissa and Sabrina’s ideas, but it depends on who’s gonna give up rights and who’s gonna do it, how’s it gonna be done. It’s a lot of politics”.

These words from the Teenage Witch herself were enough to ignite rumors regarding the show and its reboot. However, taking on to the responsibility Hart has cleared that there is no such thing as a reboot of the show and all of these just rumors.

“There’s no reboot – just so you know,” she said. “That’s all rumors. There’s nothing going on. I do think there will be a lot of people interested in doing it should something come about.”

She also explained her previous comments and said “I was on a talk show and I was having a meeting at Netflix that afternoon, and I said that and everybody assumed I was going to do a reboot.”

Even though Melissa Joan Hart was never, the first choice to play Sabrina the Teenage Witch, fans loved her and would love to see her back on their screen as the Teenage Witch.
