The true crime anthology series that uncovers the mysteries of a new case involving a serial killer Monster has intrigued the masses profusely. First, the infamous Jeffrey Dahmer case where Evan Peters starred as the lead character. At the same time, the second season featured murderer brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez.
The Netflix series has garnered a wide viewership, thanks to the bizarre suspense around the cases and people’s need to know more about serial killers and their tendencies. This has further fueled Netflix’s desire to produce a third season of Monster which will star Charlie Hunnam as the lead character.
Charlie Hunnam cast as Ed Gein in Monster Season 3
Known for his magnificent performances in Sons of Anarchy, Shantaram, and Rebel Moon to name a few, actor Charlie Hunnam is on a roll. He is set to headline one of Netflix’s most popular projects Monster where each new season tackles the nuances of a new serial killer who wreaked havoc in the past.
Serial killer Ed Gein is going to be the focus of season 3, played by Hunnam. Nicknamed Butcher of Plainfield, Gein was known for committing heinous crimes that left the masses speechless. He used to rob the graves of people in the town of Wisconsin and make household items and clothes out of the corpses. Gein was eventually discovered and put on trial in the 1950s.
According to Variety, Gein was the inspiration behind other popular eccentric characters we have seen on screen including Norman Bates in Psycho and Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs. Given how the first season with Dahmer is the third most watched show on Netflix to date, the platform is raising the stakes with every subsequent season to offer an insight into the most dangerous serial killers in the history of America.
What is Monster season 2 about?
After Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story took Netflix by storm back in 2022, the next season of the anthology show is set to release tomorrow. Titled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, it follows the lives of two brothers who undergo tough parenting and pressure which leads to them turning into cannibalistic serial killers. The two brothers killed their parents which eventually led to their trial and conviction.
The show will talk about the slaying of the parents as well as the brothers’ motives behind the brutal action. Not only were they remorseless about murdering their parents, but actually reveled in the attention that they got during their very public trial. Season 2 of the Netflix show stars Nicholas Chavez as Lyle Menendez and Cooper Koch as Erik Menendez with Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny as their parents.
