Most Awful MCU Movie Sequels, Ranked
The Marvel Cinematic Universe and its interconnected films that are driven from the comic world have helped Marvel Studios to become one of the most successful film franchises ever in history. While the production house has recorded some significant box office collections worldwide, it has even managed to develop a sense of loyalty amongst its fans. However, the journey wasn’t this easy as it has been mentioned above. In fact, both the critics and fans have criticized some of the MCU releases like hell. With that being said, these are the 5 most awful Marvel Cinematic Universe movie sequels ranked in ascending order –
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
Even after releasing some really financially and critically hits of all time, a franchise like Marvel Cinematic Universe is also cursed enough to face the sophomore slump. Well, the 2014 released film, Guardians of the Galaxy, was a massive hit, and just due to that; its sequel also got a significant box office collection on release. However, it wasn’t as great as its first part and failed to rank as high as Guardians of the Galaxy.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron
The 2015 released sequel of The Avengers is perhaps one of the lowest-rated MCU films of all time. It happened because the film included a very limited straightforward plot and that is what led the story to feel more like filler instead of an ambitious project. Although the franchise is thriving to bring significant changes and make up for every such mistake it did in past, but the fact that Age of Ultron was literally awful can’t be changed.
Iron Man 3
Another Marvel Cinematic Universe film that has remained controversial throughout is 2013 released Iron Man 3. It was perhaps a part of the MCU Phase 2 and released only after the massive success of Phase 1. In an attempt to deliver an ending to Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), the franchise fell under some controversial portrayal surrounding The Mandarin. However, it recently got rectified in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings.
Iron Man 2
Next on the list is Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 that let many fans down who were really excited to see the second installment of the famous Iron Man on screen. While the critical score of this movie is way lower than some of the worst MCU films, the story and portrayal lagged way behind from not being called awful. When compared to the first installment, critics were very unimpressed with what the franchise did in Iron Man 2, and thus, this is exactly what makes this movie rank on the second number in the list.
Thor: The Dark World
Last but not least, it is Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World that is ranking top on the list. After the massive success of Thor, the franchise went too far to build the second installment of the Thor Trilogy. However, the makers failed to include the basic qualities that a good film requires after all. Even the lead actor, Chris Hemsworth, echoed loud in an interview that he is not at all fond of Thor: The Dark World.
