Lots of fans thought Starr would be great as Booster Gold. For those unfamiliar with the character, he is a former football star from the 25th century. Initially motivated by fame and fortune, he travels back in time to the 20th century using stolen technology and attempts to become a superhero.

At first, he mostly cared about getting attention, but as time went on, he began to genuinely care about helping people. Using his cool future gadgets and knowledge, he fights villains and performs good deeds.

The idea of Starr playing the superhero became even more popular after DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran announced they were making a Booster Gold show in 2023. However, the actor now poured cold water on these hopes.

In a recent interview with Happy Sad Confused, Antony Starr hinted that there’s no truth to the rumors connecting him to the role of the time-traveling hero. Starr confessed that he doesn’t know much about Booster Gold. Not only did he deny interest, but he also playfully trolled fans before bluntly rejecting the idea of playing the DC character.

“What does he do?” the 48-year-old joked in the interview. “Does he have blonde hair? Wow, that’s a deep connection,” he added, referring to the shared hair color between the two characters. The actor continued:

I’m getting old, and my body doesn’t want to do much action anymore. I want to sit and go, ‘Hey, you can’t do that stuff.’ I want to sit behind a desk on a CSI show [Laughs].

Here, Starr means that as he gets older, he prefers not to do physically demanding action scenes anymore. Instead, he would rather play a character in a CSI show who solves crimes while sitting at a desk, rather than running around. Besides him, fans think stars like Glen Powell from Twisters and Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad could be good choices for the time-traveling hero.
