Both One-Punch Man and My Hero Academia are known as one of the best superhero stories within the anime industry. Both anime have kind of similar settings, where the protagonist of the story is born in a world of superheroes without superpowers, and by training day and night, he finally gets stronger.

However, in My Hero Academia, Izuku Midoriya gets his powers from All Might by eating his hair, while Saitama reaches unbelievable strength through training every day and becoming so powerful that he can defeat anyone with one punch.

So, by seeing these similarities between One-Punch Man and My Hero Academia, fans started sharing their thoughts on how these animes could be connected, a scenario where characters from both series might coexist in the same universe.

The theory suggests that after undergoing intense training, Saitama unexpectedly inherits a powerful version of the “One for All” ability from the future. This power will make him the ultimate hero. In a world where superpowers exist, obtaining a time travel quirk might not be impossible. The vast range of superpowers in the story makes it possible for someone to have such a unique power. The fan even went on to explain how the transferring of the quirk might work.

According to him, the scenario takes place in a future world similar to the setting of the X-Men movies, like “Logan,” where most people with special abilities have disappeared. In this world, the One-Punch Man story begins. The fan explains that the previous owner of the “One For All” quirk, faced a fate similar to All Might, and is desperate to pass on the quirk to another person. To do so, they decide on a unique method that involves spitting in Saitama’s coffee.

The fan went on and made the theory even funnier.  He suggested that if the previous wielder of One For All accidentally leaves their cup of coffee behind, and Saitama picked it up unknowingly and drank the leftover liquid, he could inherit One For All.

Why This Can Only Be Called a Theory?

However, this theory has too many flaws to be real. First of all, introducing time travel may complicate things and also change the storyline. In My Hero Academia, it’s stated that nearly everyone has quirks, whereas in One-Punch Man, many of the superheroes are just slightly enhanced humans.

Secondly, in My Hero Academia, All Might explains that the Quirk One For All can only be transferred willingly by the current wielder. This means that the theory connecting One-Punch Man and My Hero Academia might be enjoyable to consider, but can’t be real in any way.

One-Punch Man and My Hero Academia are available for streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
