Netflix’s The Witcher Writer Moves To Marvel Studios’ X-Men ’97 for Disney+
From the magical world of The Witcher, Beau DeMayo is moving to the world of X-Men. He will be serving as Head Writer and the executive producer of the upcoming animated series by Marvel Studios, titled, X-Men ’97, which will be the revival of the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series that aired in the 1990s. X-Men ’97 is scheduled for a 2023 premiere on the Disney+ network. The series was announced recently at the Disney+ Day alongside some new Marvel animated series like Spider-Man: Freshman Year along with Marvel Zombies which will continue the story of the X-Men cartoon based in the 90s that aired from 1992-1997 on the Fox Kids Network.

Beau DeMayo is a co-producer and writer on The Witcher on Netflix, inspired by the fantasy book series of the same name by author Andrzej Sapowski, and also scripted the animated spinoff film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. DeMayo has also served as a story editor and writer on three seasons of Vampire Diaries spinoff series on The CW, titled The Originals.
The creative team that has been announced for X-Men ’97 consists of supervising director Jake Castorena who directed Justice League Action and Rise of the Teenager Mutant Ninja Turtles, while the supervising producer on the series is Charley Feldman, who has been the writer for Teen Titans Go! and The Owl House by Disney. The producers and showrunners on X-Men: The Animated Series, Julia and Eric Lewald will consult on its revival alongside the original series that was directed by Larry Houston.

Original X-Men: The Animated Series cast members that will be returning for Disney+’s revival are Cal Dodd who plays Wolverine, George Buza will reprise Beast, Adrian Hough will play the Nightcrawler, Lenore Zann will voice Rogue, Alison Sealy-Smith will be voicing Storm, Jean Grey will be voiced by Catherine Disher, while Chris Potter and Christopher Britton will voice Gambit and Mister Sinister. Jubilee, which was previously voiced by Alyson Court is also among the cast members portraying a new role in X-Men ’97.
There were also some new cast members announced during the Disney+ Day including Jennifer Hale, Ray Chase, Holly Chou, Matthew Waterson, Anniwaa Buachie, JP Karliak, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio.
