The Halo series will be loosely based on the games but will be following a new “Silver Timeline,” which will reportedly pull from existing Halo lore, history, and characters, but will not be able to beholden to every event that has transpired throughout these games. This even allows the series to exist independently of the Halo franchise, while still following along with the bigger (and well, even smaller) aspects that give the whole franchise its real identity. The timeline of thee show will be very similar, but will remain separate, and there will be various “surprises, differences, and twists that will run parallel, but not identically to core canon.

The new trailer for the Halo series has been released from Paramount+, giving all game fans their first look at the bigger vision outside of the teases that have been shown until now. Schrieber is seen in full Master Chief battle attire, alongside the first look at an amount of Halo-specific characters, vehicles, weapons, and locations. Apart from this, the release date has also been revealed, which is slated for March 24, 2022.

Have a look at the trailer below:

Schreiber is well known for his role as Mad Sweeney in American Gods, as well as in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black as George “Pornstache” Mendez. He also appeared in the Apple TV+ show Defending Jacob alongside Chris Evans and was also in the features Den of Thieves, 13 Hours, Skyscraper, and First Man. McElhone was also previously seen in Showtime’s Californication with David Duchovny. Woodbine was also seen on FX’s Fargo and in the role of Shocker in Homecoming.

There’s a lot of excitement for the Halo series, as it’s been quite difficult to adapt some video games to live-action, specifically in a series format. While we have seen successful transitions including Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider, Sonic The Hedgehog, etc. there are many more that fall flat. The all-new trailer for Halo looks quite promising, however, showing off attention on what makes it special, while also teasing new and different that may also appeal to hardcore casual viewers and gaming fans.
