Fans are loving the energy brought on by singer and rapper Nicki Minaj at her concerts. She is currently on Leg 2 of her North American tour with stops in states from Alabama to California and New York. Her set list is full of songs that fans are excitedly singing along to.
The 41-year-old rapper was born in Trinidad and named Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty. She took on the name Nicki Minaj to sound memorable and is often referred to as the Queen of Rap. Thousands of concert-goers lauded Minaj’s performances and her ability to keep the masses hooked. However, the events were not without their fair share of challenges for Minaj.
Nicki Minaj Arrested in Amsterdam for Carrying Drugs
While traveling from one city to another for her North American tour, Nicki Minaj was detained and later arrested for carrying drugs at the Schiphol airport. Soft drugs were found in her baggage, leading the police officials to arrest her as people are prohibited from carrying drugs outside the Netherlands.
Initially, the news came only of Minaj’s arrest as the reason remained undisclosed. However, a social media post seemingly revealed the details on platform X. According to BBC, Minaj was reportedly fined £300 ($380) and let go. Due to the delay in proceedings and resolution of the case, the singer had to cancel a show in Manchester, England.

However, it was all a bit too late as over 20,000 fans were waiting for her performance at the arena. She apologized to her fans in a social media post and ensured that she did everything to get to the venue in time.
Haters and trolls took no time to comment and spread negativity. Minaj dealt with messages and comments that maligned her image and questioned her reputation. Leaving the past behind her, Minaj performed at the next designated venue and slammed the haters by telling them she was still here and still winning. It would take something bigger than a minor arrest fiasco to shake up the spirits of a rapper like Nicki Minaj.
Fan Wins $1000 for Completing a Challenge at a Concert
At the Birmingham concert, Minaj reportedly challenged a fan to rap her verses from the hit song Bang Bang. She passed on the mic to the fan and asked him to finish the rap from start to end. Once he started rapping, all the other fans started rapping with him. The sight left Minaj awestruck as the fan rapped the verse to perfection.
After everyone roared at the fan’s amazing rap, Minaj announced that he would be winning a whopping sum of $1000 for completing this challenge. While the winning fan was happy beyond comparison, other fans felt like they deserved a chance at it as well since most of them had memorized their favorite singer’s songs from scratch. At the same time, this felt like a move to consolidate her fanbase after the canceled Manchester show which left many fans disappointed and disheartened.
