Recently, James Gunn has addressed the status of the highly anticipated prequel series Paradise Lost on Threads. The 57-year-old confirmed that Paradise Lost is still being worked on, but it won’t start production until they have a script they’re happy with. He wrote:

Nothing is ‘in production’ unless it’s been greenlit. Right now that’s Superman, Supergirl, Penguin, Peacemaker, Lanterns, and a handful of animated projects. But Paradise Lost like many other titles known and unknown is still in very active development – it will be in production once we have a script or scripts we think are great and ready to shoot, never before. As an aside, we aren’t officially cast on anything that isn’t greenlit.

Paradise Lost will be an origin story for Themyscira, the island home of the Amazons. The series will explore the island’s history, traditions, and political struggles. Unlike the Wonder Woman movies in the DCEU that mostly follow her adventures in the human world, this series will center on life in Themyscira.

The series has been described as having the same level of drama and excitement as Game of Thrones. This means fans can look forward to lots of political drama and power struggles in Themyscira.

While Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman (2017) gave us a peek, the DCU now plans to provide a far deeper exploration.

Wonder Woman’s Greek Mythology Fits DCU’s ‘Gods & Monsters’ Theme

Wonder Woman’s story is deeply linked to Greek mythology. As the daughter of Zeus, the king of the gods, she’s tied to legendary figures like Ares and the Argonauts. This fits perfectly with the DCU’s first chapter, ‘Gods & Monsters.’

Paradise Lost might bring in many mythological characters, from gods like Zeus and Ares to mythical creatures. In the DC Universe, Wonder Woman’s ties to mythology shape the unique worlds of its top three heroes.

Superman shows the vastness of space, Batman connects to the everyday world, and Wonder Woman links to both humanity and the gods. This makes the DC Universe feel complete and connected. Paradise Lost is still shrouded in mystery, but the DC Universe is setting the stage for Wonder Woman’s realm.

In the new Creature Commandos series, Circe, a strong sorceress often at odds with Wonder Woman in Greek mythology, will play a major role. This early appearance shows that the DC Universe is serious about exploring how Wonder Woman connects to old myths.
