“Old Man Bond would go f**king crazy”: Forget Hugh Jackman in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, 1 Former 007 Actor Finds Major Support Among Further Casting Delays
- Casting the next James Bond seems to be an impossible task since no official announcements have been made so far.
- Fans want Pierce Brosnan to come back as 007 with his dashing good looks.
- Brosnan approves of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the next Bond.
The role of British MI6 agent James Bond has been something of a legacy. Many iconic actors from Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan to Sean Connery and Roger Moore have portrayed the 007 role in movies, leaving the masses charmed with their gravitas-filled voice and dashing good looks.
After Craig’s last venture as Bond in No Time To Die, fans are not waiting for the studios to announce the next James Bond actor who will set the screen on fire with incredible action and thriller sequences.
Choosing the next James Bond has been a Lengthy Process
The question over James Bond’s color and ethnicity has raised quite a stir on social media after many fans urged the studios to cast Idris Elba as 007. However, it was later clarified that Bond is British, which is for sure. His ethnicity and race can be anything. What followed was a huge spur of fan recommendations on who should be the next Bond. Actors like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan, and Leo Woodall seem to be in the running.
Nonetheless, there is one actor who has left such an indelible mark on viewers’ minds that they want him back as the dapper British spy. The excitement in this sentiment strengthened when images of Pierce Brosnan at the Wimbledon match went viral on social media. Brosnan looked spectacular in a neatly groomed white beard and a blue suit as he enjoyed the tennis match.

100% agree. I watched Black Adam last night and he was the only redeeming part of that movie pic.twitter.com/PI3urqtwZp

Bond in his older years as M, dealing with a newly minted 00 agent who is almost a duplicate of his younger self.

Even though Brosnan is 71 years old, fans want him to be cast as James Bond yet again as they don’t seem to be done with his charming persona. The actor played Bond in four films namely GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. Fans are already busy strategizing how Brosnan could possibly make a comeback as Bond.
Looking at Hugh Jackman’s role as the fierce Old Man Logan in the eponymous film, fans believe Brosnan will do a great job as Bond despite being a bit older. Jackman is even returning as Logan in Deadpool & Wolverine, giving fans hope that they might see Brosnan back in the franchise. While the studios wait for the next great actor to come along, they can let Brosnan pick up the gun and stride back into MI6.
Pierce Brosnan approves of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the next 007
Having worked with Johnson before on The Thomas Crown Affair, Brosnan said in an appearance on The Ray D’Arcy Show that he would be amazing as Bond. Brosnan claimed,
I think the man has the chops, the talent, and the charisma to play Bond, very much so. I read the news about his possibilities of being a Bond, so I would definitely tip my hat to the fellow.
The Mamma Mia! actor also suggested that Cillian Murphy might make a great James Bond since he’s an Irishman. He would bring a fresh perspective to the role, broadening the horizons for the British Spy.
James Bond is part of a larger franchise that has consistently delighted fans with thrilling action sequences and suspenseful stories. The spy movies continue to be a defining part of pop culture so whoever signs on as the next James Bond will have a lot of expectations to fulfil.
