Katakuri was one of Big Mom’s many children and one of the strongest opponents Luffy faced, who could match his strides due to his Mochi Mochi no Mi powers, which allowed him to copy Luffy’s attacks.
Despite the status of Mochi Mochi no Mi as a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, Katakuri could also transform his body into mochi like a Logia-type ability. But that’s not all, Katakuri also possesses one of the strongest forms of Haki, the Future Sight Observation Haki.
What Is Future Sight Observation Haki?
Haki is an incredible power that exists within everyone in the One Piece world. However, only a handful of people are able to awaken this ability, boosting their strength exponentially thanks to it. Usually, Haki can be divided into two types, while a third type is available to only one in a million people in the manga series.
One of the strongest types of Haki is the Observation Haki. The power acts as a sixth sense, allowing users to do things such as precognition, sense incoming dangers, gauge powers, sense intent, and more. While Observation Haki is incredible on its own, taking this skill beyond the limits unleashes an even greater power called Future Sight Observation Haki.
Future Sight Observation Haki takes the power of the Color of Observation Haki beyond limits. The Haki type allows its users to see a glimpse of the future, allowing them to act accordingly. While normal Haki allows the user to predict the attacks, Future Sight Haki actually gives a precise image of what is going to happen in the next few seconds.
Katakuri’s Future Sight Observation Haki Is Stronger Than Luffy’s Haki
In the battle between Luffy and Katakuri, Luffy proves to be no match for Katakuri, due to his superior Observation Haki which allows him to predict Luffy’s moves, giving him a massive advantage in the battle.
While there are several top dogs in the world of One Piece, only some of the characters have access to Future Sight Observation Haki. Being a Yonko does not automatically guarantee access to the superior observation Haki, unlike the Conqueror’s Haki. Not everyone who is attuned to their emotions can gain this ability to see the future.
Charlotte Katakuri was the first user of the power, introduced to the viewers in the Whole Cake Island arc. Such is the power of the ability that Katakuri could not even remember the last time someone landed a hit on him before Luffy.
Although Luffy also awakened his Future Sight Observation Haki during the fight against Katakuri, it was not on the same level as Katakuri’s. The sheer mastery of Katakuri over his own Future Sight Observation Haki was enough to overpower Luffy’s Haki.
