“One Tree Hill” Cast: Where Are They Now?
- The 'One Tree Hill' cast has had some wild journeys since the show ended.
- Some are still acting, while others have ventured into new careers.
- From family life to holiday films, they’ve kept their careers going strong.
One Tree Hill was one of those shows we just couldn’t get enough of. If you were a fan of basketball, brooding boyfriends, and all that high school drama, this was your show. It gave us characters we connected with, laughed with, and even cried over. But after the cameras stopped rolling, what happened to the stars of One Tree Hill?
If you’ve ever wondered where Lucas, Brooke, Nathan, Peyton, Haley, and the rest of the gang are now, you’re in the right place. From big TV roles to family life, some are still making their mark on Hollywood, while others have found new passions.
Chad Michael Murray as Lucas Scott
Chad Michael Murray was the heartthrob of One Tree Hill, playing Lucas Scott, the artist with a complicated love life and a basketball dream. Before OTH, Murray was already making waves on shows like Gilmore Girls and Dawson’s Creek.
He also starred in Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan, which was (basically) the movie that made him every teenage girl’s crush. The actor was on One Tree Hill for six seasons, becoming one of the show’s main stars.
But Murray left before the final three seasons (though he came back for one episode to help wrap things up). After that, the star didn’t stop. He starred in movies like A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff and House of Wax with Elisha Cuthbert.
He also appeared in shows like Agent Carter, Riverdale, and Sullivan’s Crossing. These days, Murray is living a much more private life. He married actress Sarah Roemer in 2014, and the couple now has three children. They’re super private about their family life, which is something we totally respect.
Sophia Bush as Brooke Davis
Sophia Bush’s role as Brooke Davis was one of her first big acting jobs, and she completely owned it. Brooke was the girl with big dreams, a huge heart, and more drama than we could keep up with. The actress gave Brooke depth, making her one of the most beloved characters on the show.
Plus, who can forget her iconic romance with Lucas and her friendship with Peyton? After One Tree Hill, Bush kept busy in the TV world. She starred in Chicago P.D. and also appeared in some great films like John Tucker Must Die (which we all loved, by the way).
In 2021, Bush and her OTH co-stars Hilarie Burton and Bethany Joy Lenz started a podcast called Drama Queens, where they talk about all things OTH. As for her personal life, Bush married Grant Hughes in 2022, but the couple divorced in 2023.
James Lafferty as Nathan Scott
James Lafferty, aka Nathan Scott, was the ultimate bad boy turned loving husband and father. Nathan was the guy who made us believe in second chances and redemption.
And Lafferty played him perfectly. After OTH, Lafferty didn’t just fade into the background. He kept acting, starring in shows like The Haunting of Hill House and Crisis.
He also reunited with his OTH co-star Stephen Colletti to write, direct, and star in the show Everyone Is Doing Great. The actor has also appeared on All American and starred in The Right Stuff. In 2022, Lafferty married actress Alexandra Park.
Hilarie Burton as Peyton Sawyer
Hilarie Burton was the one and only Peyton Sawyer—an artistic, tough girl with a heart of gold. Peyton’s emotional storylines pulled us in, and Burton made her one of the most memorable characters of the show. But after Peyton left Tree Hill in season six, what happened to Burton?
The actress found success on TV after OTH, landing major roles in shows like White Collar and Grey’s Anatomy. She also made appearances on Extant, Lethal Weapon, and even The Walking Dead, where she shared a scene with her husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Burton married Morgan in 2019, and they have two kids together.
Burton has also starred in a few Christmas movies, including The Christmas Contract and A Christmas Wish, both of which reunited her with her OTH castmates.
Bethany Joy Lenz as Haley James Scott
Bethany Joy Lenz’s portrayal of Haley James Scott, the good girl turned famous singer, was everything. Haley was our role model—the kind of girl who worked hard, loved her family, and still had time to follow her dreams.
Like her character, Lenz kept chasing her dreams after OTH. She continued acting, with roles in shows like Dexter, Grey’s Anatomy, and Colony. Lenz also kept up with her music career and even released albums as a solo artist and with her band Everly.
Lenz also starred in several Christmas movies like Five Star Christmas and An Unexpected Christmas. We might not all be famous singers, but watching her brings out the holiday cheer. Lenz has a daughter named Maria Rose with her ex-husband Michael Galeotti.
Paul Johansson as Dan Scott
Paul Johansson played the villainous Dan Scott—Lucas and Nathan’s father who made us want to scream at the screen. Dan was a terrible dad, but Johansson gave him such depth that we couldn’t help but be drawn into his messed-up story.
After OTH, Johansson continued acting, with roles in shows like Mad Men and Van Helsing. He also appeared in a couple of Bruce Willis films, including the Detective Knight series.
These days, Johansson is still acting and enjoying life, though he’s no longer causing chaos in Tree Hill. The star has a son with his ex, Gabriela Oltean.
Lee Norris as Marvin ‘Mouth’ McFadden
Mouth was that guy. The one who had all the heart and none of the drama—unless it was helping his friends with their drama. Lee Norris played Marvin McFadden, one of Lucas’ best friends. And while Mouth didn’t always have the spotlight, he was a fan favorite for sure.
After OTH, Norris didn’t disappear. He appeared in Gone Girl and even returned as Stuart Minkus in Girl Meets World. He also had a small role in the movie Greyhound. Norris is still acting and reunited with OTH stars for the movie A Christmas Wish.
Antwon Tanner as Antwon ‘Skills’ Tanner
Skills was the fun-loving, basketball-playing best friend who brought a lot of humor to the show. Antwon Tanner played Skills, and we couldn’t help but love him. Even when the show ended, Tanner kept working hard.
After OTH, the actor appeared in films like Coach Carter and Black Jesus. He also starred in a Christmas movie called A Christmas Wish, along with several other OTH stars. His latest project is the film Packz, which was released in 2023.
