Ozark: Best Character Arcs In The Series
With the recent release of the first half of Ozark’s final season, viewers are seeing the end of some of their favorite characters’ fascinating narratives. The Byrdes and Navarro are confronted with their most difficult trials, and everyone around them is caught in the crossfire.
The finest plot arcs in the drama series typically take several twists and turns, from Ruth’s sorrowful journey to Wendy’s more ruthless demeanor. The tremendous alterations of the characters over the seasons are frequently caused by harsh events that force them to make tough decisions. While the story arcs of all of the key characters are really well-written, some are more compelling than others.
5. Marty Byrde
Marty’s transformation over the seasons may not be as drastic as Wendy’s or Ruth’s, but it’s still remarkable to watch. Audiences see the unforgiving world through his eyes for quite a while, so it’s easy to feel invested in every single thing that happens to him.
It’s his priority to keep his family safe by minimizing the risks as much as possible, which is why he often clashes with Wendy and her more ambitious plans.
4. Darlene Snell
Darlene’s persona is intriguing in part because she is unexpected. While she may appear to be Jacob’s helper at first, viewers rapidly find that she can easily operate the entire drug operation without him.
Darlene has no qualms or regrets about murdering, even if it is her own spouse on the other end of the knife. Fans have seen her commit heinous things for the sake of her pride or dignity.
3. Jonah Byrde
Fans can’t be blamed for feeling sorry for Jonah from the start. When he hears about the terrible things the cartel is capable of, his first inclination is to learn how to use weapons in order to protect his family. Wendy’s encouragement to shoot someone and launder money for her doesn’t help.
It’s fulfilling but still heartbreaking to watch as he gradually understands how bad his parents are, and Ben’s death is a definite turning point for the character. The way he uses money laundering to get back at his parents and get away from them is clever, and the rising tension between him and Wendy is something viewers will certainly be looking forward to seeing in the series.
2. Wendy Byrde
Wendy’s change in Ozark has been fascinating to witness. Whether or not her admirers appreciate her, no one can dispute that she has a knack for obtaining what she wants. She may have gotten the short end of the stick after losing her beloved and nearly being killed by Del, but she has swiftly regained her confidence and established herself as a prominent figure in her new home.
1. Ruth Langmore
Ruth’s story arc is without a doubt the greatest in Ozark. She’s come a long way from being a petty crook out to kill Marty and steal his filthy money. Her first aim has always been to find a way for Wyatt and Three to escape the “Langmore curse,” which is why the closing episode of the first installment was so terrible.
It’s painful to see Ruth fight to get back on her feet after each new setback. Fans can’t help but sympathize with her when they watch her sobbing in private about Cade or Ben. It’s simple to understand why she’s a fan favorite; no one else comes close.
