Uma Thurman Had a Life-Threatening Episode on Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Set

Uma Thurman the acclaimed actor known for her roles in movies like Paycheck has recently opened up about a life-threatening episode on Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill set. In a candid interview with the New York Times, Uma Thurman recalled the accident from Kill Bill set when she thought she would never walk again after being forced into a deathbox.

After revealing how producer Harvey Weinstein harassed her, Thurman further blamed director Quentin Tarantino, for forcing her to do a dangerous driving scene. Talking about this Thurman recalled requesting Tarantino to bring a stunt double to do the scene, but he simply denied it and forced her to do it.

“I was scared,” she admitted. “He said: ‘I promise you the car is fine. It’s a straight piece of road. Hit 40 miles per hour or your hair won’t blow the right way and I’ll make you do it again.’ But that was a death box that I was in. The seat wasn’t screwed down properly. It was a sand road and it was not a straight road.”

With the pressure coming from the filmmaker Thurman did the scene but lost control of the Karmann Ghia and crashed into the tree which left her in unbearable pain. Even though the accident was not as bad as she feared, Thurman was left with a permanently damaged neck and screwed-up knees.
