With Deadpool & Wolverine releasing soon, Ryan Reynolds is hard at work trying to infuse the movie and its promotion in everything he does. As he begins his collaboration with National Geographic Channel for a ten-part series called Underdogs, Reynolds released a short trailer talking about the North American Wolverine and its habits.

Reynolds couldn’t resist adding a jab at his co-star and long-time buddy Hugh Jackman in the teaser video. Talking about the animal Wolverine, Reynolds claims that they shot 15 hours of footage out of which only a few shots were deemed usable since the animal is lazy and grumpy. Drawing parallels between the animal Wolverine and the mutant Wolverine, Reynolds said,

The Wolverine is one of the largest and laziest members of the weasel family. Here we see an older male Wolverine sadly sulking out of its den one last time probably for a paycheck.

As he says this, the shot quickly changes to Jackman’s Wolverine appearing on screen from one of the shots of Deadpool & Wolverine. The news of Jackman returning to his iconic role broke the internet since many believed Logan to be his last film as Wolverine. However, seems like the actor could not say no to his best buddy for a project that could possibly be a sure-shot blockbuster.

The ten-part series based on animals and their habits on National Geographic is going to be produced by Reynolds’ Maximum Effort studio along with Wildstar Films. Reynolds is going to narrate the series as they explore the living conditions and habitats of various lesser-known animals.

Being a passionate animal lover, Reynolds saw this as an opportunity to diversify his knowledge and help his daughters learn more about nature and animals. Talking about this chance to get a deeper understanding of animals, Reynolds said,

I love nature series and I love making things my kids can actually watch. We’re already having a lot of fun trying to bring a new voice to animal docs. Wildstar has the expertise, experience and cutting-edge film tech to help us chew up that healthy National Geographic budget. We’ll deliver a show that is entertaining, surprising and will do justice to animals usually stuck as supporting cast.
